you can’t always get what you want!
Moving the production of their “cabs” ( for tractors, combines and the balance of their farm equipment) from Waterloo and moving the jobs to...not Alabama but to Mexico!
Theyprobably had no idea they would be doing this a year ago when Deere workers went “on strike” and Deere settled the strike rather quickly.
Good thing Iowa has Kim for a Governor...maybe she will have a program where these displaced workers can open up all those recycle centers the new “bottle bill” is providing!
Sucks to be a Deere employee in Waterloo! (But then' these workers have that “ new” unemployment program to assist them!) ;)

No one is being laid off per the article I read yesterday and they are building a new site at the current site. Sounds like a lot of robots do the work there anyway.

Well…. Maybe they shouldn’t have been so damn greedy. Wasn’t their agreement overly generous?

“UAW Local 838 President Tim Frickson says he was notified by his shop committee at the TCAO facility Wednesday morning of the decision. Frickson says he has not spoken to John Deere at this point.

Frickson says it is his understanding that there are no planned layoffs at the facility, where approximately 1,100 people work, and the company may be planning to start a new build at the facility.”

"We don't want to see the jobs leave the Waterloo area, we don't want to see the jobs leave the U.S.," Frickson said.

However, John Deere says "The number of employees affected will depend on where the business is with respect to production volumes, employee attrition over the next two years, and new product program needs."

The other side is that is when Mexican immigrants began pouring over the border because cheap Iowa corn got dumped in Mexico and put over 1 million farmers there out of business.
Despite that we have gone from having a positive trade surplus with Mexico pre NAFTA, to a 108 billion deficit in 2021. When farmers go out of business they move to town and work in factories just like what has happened in the US over the last 100 years...

I was told by Trump that the USMCA would stop all this by replacing NAFTA. He wouldn’t have lied to us, right?

...and those "ham n eggers" in Waterloo didn't see this coming?

On the bright side for them the pay for flipping burgers has never been higher.

What truth? I don’t like trump. However Biden is worse for almost every American. So you admit to the ED then?
Only with your mom. I would have thought you’d have taught your only sexual partner ever better than that, NC.
