Hard to believe Purdon't lost by 14 to the Illini tonite. Makes one start to question Painter's coaching ability to lose to the Illini with the team he has. I'd say Michigan State is now the cream of the crop in the Big 10 this year. I thought PU would challenge Mich St, but not after tonite's loss.

Maryland has the talent to be special. MSU next followed by a group of Iowa, Purdue, Michigan, and Indiana. I see the Hawks as the most experienced of this second group but a bit short on comparative natural talent.

Barring a collapse I think these 6 teams are NCAA locks. IL could be in the mix talent wise, but they lack consistent effort and coaching. Groce and IL is like that box of chocolates.

That is why you play the games. I wouldn't concede anything to MSU yet. Purdon't hurt their chances, but any of 5 or 6 teams could come out on top.

Seriously, Crean, groce, painter and pitino need to stay right where they are for a long time thank you.

I hope the new Wisc guy turns out the same and i wonder if miles will keep Nebby middle to bottom?

I agree with earlier post, Purdue losing to Illini takes a lot of the shine off our victory at Purdue. Illini just got smoked at MSU.

Illini apparently have a couple 7ft dudes to matchup defensively with Purdue....I think it shows what we already know about college ball...guards rule. You can limit Purdue's post scoring, apply ball pressure, and just outscore them with your guards and 3pt shot.

I think there is a big difference between winning on the road and at home in the Big (duh!). Purdue will have a say about who wins the Big, but the comment about guard play is spot on. Especially when you have senior guards. I like the way things are shaping up for the Hawks.

I agree, and this is actually great news, because coming into this year, I wasn't sure Iowa should be in that 3-6 range. Let's hope it continues, and heck, why not win it all?

I said it all along, if Purdue's guards don't play well then they will struggle. The Bigs for Purdue are good, but if PU's guards can't hit from outside, all you have to do is pack it in a zone and keep both Hammond and Haas outside the paint and you'll be fine. They have a solid line-up, but their bigs have to score. If they can't score, PU's guards are not good enough.

Also I think the "swangigan" kid is trying to do too much at times. Needs to let the game come to him, instead of trying to be "the guy" as a freshman.
