SIAP - have seen it referenced in a few threads but didn't see it posted. If you haven't seen it yet it's worth the 21 minutes of your time.

Trump is a nightmare that's becoming a reality right before our eyes. As Colbert just stated 'It's Super Tuesday tomorrow, which means it's sphincter clenching Monday for the Republican party'

Already posted this in another thread, but I think it deserves it's own thread. As Dorrman said, it's funny. But I take it serious as well. John Oliver is a comedian and he's in the entertainment business. But his points are dead on, and he backs them up with facts. Trump is running around saying whatever he wants and many eat it up as if it's the gospel.

I like the idea of blowing up the GOP as Herkmeister said in another thread, but if Trump managed to win, God help us all, because I don't think he's a stable person.

That said, Hillary Clinton is a candidate for Big Money, regardless of what she says on the stump. She's just as deep in their pockets as any GOPer still in the race. She will be a failure as President.

Side note. Like Oliver says, Trump claims he's funding his own campaign. No, he's not. He's loaning money to his campaign, and that's a big difference. But people just lap it up and repeat what he said to whoever will listen. In Trump's case, he is Big Money and he's in his own pocket.

What was the South Park Episode? The two choices were a Turd Sandwich and a Giant Douche. Hillary's the Turd Sandwich and Trump is the Giant Douche.

My how this country has fallen.

No fan of Trump, but voters have the right to vent their disgust at ideology driven politics that does nothing but enrich politicians, media and think tanks rather than simply settling for status quo.

not funny, not factual. I'd love to see people spend one tenth of the effort on hills. but they won't. look into the murder of two teens in mena Arkansas, please.

It was funny and it was factual
I never found that kind of humor funny, not when he does it nor when jon stewart did it. I am more of a will Farrell guy. I'm obviously more into the immature junior high toilet humor. I find trump to be amazing, obviously. {hee hee} But it's like music or anything else, it's subjective. I would guess one could judge oliver by his ratings.

But all that being said, you should take this seriously, everyone should have taken it seriously when in 2004 and 2008, it was obviously rigged and set up. Now in 2016, people suddenly look at it and wonder. Where were they a few years ago? We deserve trump, but we don't deserve hills.

I didn't watch the John Oliver bit, but agree with what you're saying, and recall the South Park episode very well. IMO, the only reasonable person left who is a "blow up the Republican party" type candidate is Ben Carson, and to a lesser extent, Kasich. Unfortunately, neither has a chance.

Carson would break the perceived color barrier and drive the GOP establishment NUTS with his lack of experience. As for the turd sandwich, I have a feeling Joe Biden could come in and sweep away HIllary's delegates even now. We'll never know.

It looks like America might be moving toward the celebrity pick, like California with the Governator or Minnesota with Jessie Ventura.

he right off the bat cites politifact, which is Annenberg foundation, Obama was chair of Annenberg foundation - this negates everything after that

he also talks about trump's finances, and nobody knows anything about trump's finances as FACT, I'm starting to think even trump knows not

he kind of lost me after that, then he's talking about who invited whom on the show, who cares? we could never prove any of that as fact, unless we recorded their phone conversations.

basically oliver is wasting his time and ours here

and jesse ventura made rumblings about running this time around. I think he calmed down after trump got in and immediately made an impact

"Wolf! did Ventura just suplex Trump on the debate Stage?"
"Well Anderson, it was either that or a filthy sanchez, I'm not up on my wrestling terms."

Right, we know nothing about what Trump's finances are, except for what he filed with the Federal Election Commission and Oliver quoted. So if Oliver isn't correct, then Trump has falsified FEC documents.

Why are facts such an inconvenience for you? I await your conspiracy theory filled response.

Just saw this last night. Amazing piece. I particularly like how Oliver points out the allure of Trump's name, but how quickly that allure disappears when you learn Donald's real name: Drumpf.

Well said and a spot on post.

I am waiting for more Trump fans to get on here, rip Oliver, and defend Trump. Maybe they can't this time.

Well spent 21 minutes. Thanks for posting.

Ah yes current year guy at it again. Please tell me some more how Europe shouldn't fear the migrants. But but its current year. Insert swear word and the current year again.

I agree with at least 90% of this post. I don't think that has ever happened before. If Jan and I agree on something, then something is seriously screwed up.

As for the 10% I might disagree on, I'm not willing to say Hillary is a failure before she is one. Although it's no secret whose interests she will represent. There is just no way I can even consider voting for Trump. He might get pissed and decide that nuking Denmark is a rational decision.
