Jok back vs NE

I'll believe it when I see it. The great thing is they might actually have the luxury of allowing him to fully heal.

When he comes back, let it be ONLY if he's 100%.

Jok needs to be at 100% or he will further endanger
his back. A bad back needs rest and he should not
be hurried into the lineup again. Iowa can beat Neb.
without Jok. We need a healthy Jok for the Big Ten
Tournament.

This. At least wait until after Neb game.

Not sure I like this.

The intensity on D has been night and day difference the last two games.

Nick Baer is the teams leader now and its showing, they are following his lead.

The ball is not sticking anywhere and everyone has been a threat to score. Its working allot better than everyone standing around screening for one player then jogging back on D.

Things better not go back to the way they were before.

Folks...it's unwise to bury the guy. His absence isn't the sole reason Iowa won the last two games nor his presence the sole reason Iowa lost the 3 prior.

I got nothing against Jok at 100% if he isn't out there for 33 minutes a game. Even the best defensive players can't do squat if they can't move. He wore down and got hurt busting his gut trying to do things he never was asked to do before, such as defense and rebounding, carrying the team when they needed it.

Lesson learned.

But at 15-20 minutes a game at 100%...I will take it. Ease him into the rotation, blend him back into the mix. 20 minutes a game, say 12 ppg, and a handful of rebounds and assists, passable defense - we're a better team than we've seen the last two games.

Iowa can never, ever have enough quality players to go around. We're going to need him, healthy and capable of delivering when we need his offense the most.

I was surprised that Jok made the trip to NJ. If his back needs rest, avoid unnecessary travel.

We are a lot better with him in the line up about 30 min a night when healthy I'll take 21 and 6 any night. I think the last two games have distorted the view of how we need Jok. Those were bad teams playing bad basketball. I do believe that every game these freshman play they get better and better and that in turn will make Jok better.

I'm in the middle. I think the offense flows better without Jok as it runs through him. It can look bad if he's off or if he's out and the freshmen are off it looks bad. But if he's on then it looks good and opens others up. If he's not 100% then he doesn't need to be out there as his defense struggled even more.

Clearly Jok is the best offensive player on the court when healthy, but one of the lesser players on defense. The last two games , the offense has been a situation of the sum of the parts is greater than the whole and the defense was about 100% more active. So IMO, Jok must be 100% to play to help the team

It's a double-edged sword with Jok. Fran loves shooters and gives them the green light and in many games, Jok was the only sign of life we had offensively for long spurts. Jok, like most scorers, put more energy into getting open on offense than guarding on defense. Add to the mix logging heavy minutes, multiple nagging injuries, and not getting much help from others and Jok's defense turns from suspect to non-existent.

The balance to strike, IMO, is to reduce his minutes so he can play hard on both ends and have legs for the last 5 minutes. Time and time again we need him in late game scenarios and he front rims everything. I would like to see Fran post him more. He will draw a double, which will open somebody else up.

Jok 100% healthy is an asset to the team. If he isn't then he is a major liability.
The ball stops with Jok and he takes the majority of shots when he's playing.

I personally like the way we play without him. The ball moves from side to side and open
player takes the shot. Look at the difference watching the two Rutgers games. It's was night and day
difference. Our shooting percentage much higher, more players scoring. It's more fun to watch.

Working the ball inside and then passing out has been a big part of guys getting open looks the last games. When Pete is in there, we tend to pass the perimeter looking to get him the ball. The problem with that is that the defenders stay on the perimeter and its harder to get open. If he comes back and they continue to feed Cook and Pemsl, all will be good.

Our 2 best wins ISU/Purdue were with Jok.............we beat 2 teams at the bottom of the BIG without him and some want him benched. Either trolls or dumb.
We need Jok, everyone knows that, but the effort on the defensive end the last two games was night and day with him on the bench. Maybe this lights a fire under him to play better D.

Saying people want him benched is an untruth, first off.

Second, those were our best wins but hes also been involved in the worst losses.

Overall the team has just played their best two games of the season by far.

Pretty much everyone wants him to come back but fit in rather than dominating the ball. Play 25 minutes instead of 35. Let the other players make plays too.

This, he doesn't like to feed the post. He always waits for the man posting to come out and set a screen for him. He needs to feed the post at least half the time in that scenario.

I don't understand why he's coming back this quick. I don't want to see him until he's 100%.
There is no way his back is healed. He will just reaggravate and be out longer. We are playing as a team without him and we will be able to take care of Nebraska.
Let him rest!

What do you guys think about Jok getting political on Fox news tonight? News anchor stated more to follow.

Encouraged by Jok's description of therapy- stretching as well as massages. If he keeps that up, he might stay healthy. Think part of it too was the pressure he put on himself to carry the team. He alluded to learning while watching the team. Hopefully, he realizes it's not as productive to try and do it all because the team is starting to grow up.

I agree when jok got the ball players stood around, not his fault if players move like they have thenlaat couple days we can win 6/8 but we need a healthy joke and players to not reply to much on jok, and move!!

And ONLY if the team keeps playing AS a team when he's in there.
