Free throw percentage........His FT % is OVER 95%.

Unfortunately, the rest of the Hawkeye squad is not holding up its
responsibility to make shots at the charity stripe.

Some of the other players, who have trouble shooting and scoring need to
work as hard as possible to rebound and take care of the ball.

This team also leads the league in turnovers. These are fixable
components of the game. GO HAWKS :)

I'd be happy if they just cut out the dumb unforced turnovers. It would make a 10 point flip in every game.

Unfortunately, some players simply lack BB fundamentals, that should have been taught them at a young age. It's going to be tough, but yes I agree that stopping the unforced, concentration ones could really help

IDK. What I see is too much hesitation and possibly going through the motions by some of them. Post feeds are definitely something that needs to be worked on.

In Big Ten Conference games, the Hawkeyes lead
in most points allowed per game at 84. Purdue
allows only 60 points per game in Conference games.
That is a 24 point swing from the worst to the best.
Yes, defense wins games. Our average of 84 pts
allowed per game is a disgrace.

Perfect. Just got a PU co-worker to give me 24 tomorrow.

Gordon Bohannon is a blue blood Hawkeye. He
played QB for the Iowa football team. Now he has
given us his son Jordan to play for our basketball
team. We should be thankful for the loyalty of the
family.

Makes me wonder if somehow... No, it couldn't be. Our coaches couldn't possibly have overlooked how fundamentally "sound" our players are. If that's the case, then is the system, the motion offense, and lax defensive effort accentuating the need for fundamentally sound players.

Man, it's hard to believe that that many players at this level are not embracing good fundamental BB. When I see them at times looking confused, frustrated, and listless I have to wonder if the current system is just not the right approach. And there are multiple issues with our team. Take your pick. The constant (or though it seems) substitutions are not conducive to good morale I'll betcha. Players want to play in stretches, not just a few minutes at a time.

Good to see JBo giving the effort though after the hawking he's been taking. I agree, the others need to match the effort or at least try. I agree with you, but how in blazes does the staff not research this? What went wrong?

How bad would this team be without jbo??

Probably the same, offense might score a bit less but defense would give up less by the same amount because he is that terrible on that end. And he has a 33 to 25 assist to turnover ratio in conference to go with 3 steals in 7 games, so regardless how many threes he shoots, he's not having a positive effect on the game for as many minutes as he plays.

JBO can shoot no doubt. They need to get a PG so he can play the 2 and just play comfortable and unload shots. If he gets hot, he could go off for 25 points. I'm optimistic about connor being that guy. Put JBO at the 2 Weiscamp at the 3 that's a pretty deadly backcourt. Moss, Baer, and Dailey off the bench.

To scary to think about. As well as JoBo has played he not a natural point guard. I know Fran and the staff have tried hard and came close to landing a top PG but we just have not seen one yet. I wish Fran could sign a Ronnie Lester, Orlando Woolridge, BJ Armstrong type guy and let JoBo play the second guard position.

Was this mystery point guard suppose to be Connor ?

You are assuming Bohannon wants to play the 2 or would even agree to play the 2.

Bohannon would love to play the two,... No question in my mind....

I don't know, when he's been out there at the two with either Connor or Dailey this year he looks disinterested on the offensive end which he usually only looks on defense. Other than the ISU game when we were trying to comeback late in the second half, he hasn't seemed to put in the effort to run off screens and try to get open at the two spot. Now I'm sure he's tired a lot because he's playing way too many minutes, but that's on Fran for wasting him playing 33 in games like Purdue when all the non-freshman starters should've been out with at least ten minutes to go. There was no pride to be gained by cutting the lead to 20 against Purdue's third teamers when we have 11 games in the next 35 days.

JBo playing away to many minutes? I think that is a lot of what is wrong with the Hawkeyes is they aren't in condition. Iowa State has to play some guys a lot of minutes because they have had two of more players unavailable every game this season with only 4 players playing in every game. Weiler-Babb has played 39 to 40 minutes in games. In the last game with Purdue it showed Baer up close and unless he was battling a cold he was winded in the first three minutes of the game. That may be part of the reason that Fran subs them in and out so much before players get a feel for who they are playing with.

JB is not the problem. The problem is he is being asked to play a roll that exposes his weakness’.

This right here I can totally relate to... I played PG all my life, and then at JUCO in CA after High School ( I know, nobody cares, but I do have a point) . I was only 6ft, and didn't have elite handles or quickness by any stretch, but I knew how to play the position, and push the offense, and I gotta tell ya, I feel sorry for Bohannon out there most games. Also, truth be told, you get D'd up just a little bit harder when you're the lone white boy on the team, (sorry but it's fact) who handles the ball 75% of the time. Don't believe me? Just watch how guys guard Bohannon next game, looking to get that "easy" steal... My point being there's nothing worse than being hounded nonstop just trying to get the ball up floor, while having the opposing guard reaching, and going full out to pick your pocket. It takes a lot of energy, and now I'm supposed to worry about knocking down 3's, and driving to the rack as well, much less play tough D on the other end?? You're gassed fellas... This is why I think it is of major importance to get a true PG, either through JUCO or the transfer market. I think Bohannon takes a lot of shit on here, that could be eleviated if he was allowed to relax a bit, and concentrate on what he does best, knock down 3's. The kid is a good player.

One of these guys is not like the other.

The Refs also let opposing athletes get away with mugging JBo even though just last year it was point of emphasis for freedom of movement. I swear with some of the ultra quick guards, they take it to the rack and you breath on them and they get the call. White point guards get rocked and rarely any calls.

JBO is a spot up shooter and could be deadly with a solid pg beside him. He can penetrate every so often as well.

Orlando Woolridge? Yes, he had a nice NBA career, but I don't think he was a point guard.

He's a problem in that he plays no defense.

The problems with the defense are that the players are doing what the coaches are asking/telling them to do. There is no adapting the defensive schemes to the players. The staff insist the players adapt to them.

On a good team JBo would be the 3pt specialist off the bench. Like Ellingson was supposed to be.

basically this. He's too short and lacks the quickness to defend either opposing 1s or 2s so he's always going to give up as much as he gets on the offensive end. If he comes off the bench you can at least kinda hide him a bit and put him in better matchups than if he has to start and play heavy minutes. He'd be better offensively if he could just play off the ball and run off screens, but unfortunately on this team they need more.

Actually, at 6' 9", he was a forward that played for Notre Dame and the Chicago Bulls. Darned good player, but not sure why he is part of this discussion.
Sorry, Andre was a Hawkeye. You are probably thinking Orlando Woolridge, who was a 6'9" power forward for Notre Dame.
