Jordan Bohannon News

If I were Fran I would welcome him back with the following understanding.....JBO I need to push these young PGs ahead and that means they need to play the key role as the PGs running the team and dominating playing time. That said, IF you are willing to come back and play a role as a shooter that comes off of the bench at times when we need that shooter...I would love to have you back. You can help coach these young guys, you can get the record for most B10 3s in history, and get another year of education, etc........

That way Fran knows he has a 1 year guy that knows the system and knows what the coach wants. He doesn't have to try to get someone else that you don't know how he will fit with the team, etc. We need another 3 point shooter for next year...having someone as clutch as JBO that you could plug in when you need him.....pretty good deal unless he takes the starter role and then we will probably lose one of our young PGs....which I don't want.

Maybe he can come back as a walk on in a limited role. Paying for his education, rent food and other expenses. And then I’d love to see people not buy anything from him or have him advertise for them and he ends up losing money on the deal.

I hope Jordan does return. I think it is understandable that he does want to make some money on his identity because he is giving up a year of his work career to play basketball. My only concern would be how his presence would effect team chemistry. If he has supportive relationships with those from whom he might take playing time, it would be a win-win. If not, I could easily be talked out of my enthusiasm for his return. (If his defense is a net minus- its Fran's job to take him off the court. Fran did that against Oregon.)

Watching the teams that have made the Elite Eight, I see no team with a player as limited defensively, drive and score, and drive and kick ability as JBo. Did he over-achieve in terms of the speed and strength he was given? Yes. Can Iowa go to the Sweet Sixteen or beyond with him as a starting point guard? I don't think so.

I gotta admit, I am not a fan of this idea.

To everything, there is a season, and it feels like it's time for the sun to set on Jordan's college basketball career. He can go down in history as a Hawkeye great, the best 3-point shooter in school history. Or he can be the guy who didn't know when it was time to leave.

My fear is that Jordan's motivation is to have a platform to pursue his personal causes -- his NIL campaign, his podcast, and his pursuit of the all-time BIG 3-point record, etc., rather than doing what is best for the team.

And if I'm Ahron Ulis or Joe Toussaint, the transfer portal might start looking pretty lucrative.

I am going to reserve harsher judgment until I see where the chips fall on this one. But yeah, this is not hitting me well.

Let me also just add that this feels a little like a Jimmy Chitwood moment. "I play, Coach stays. He goes, I go." It worked in Hoosiers, but it might be a bit naive to think it will work with the Iowa legislature. Bohannon may be overestimating his value in the eyes of state lawmakers.

He is considering returning because he has no other options and he now realizes it. Spending 5 years complaining about the NCAA to possibly return for a 6th year is just comical.

Some reporter interviewed him probably less than a month ago and he said he wasnt coming back next year. Why people continue to support this 'me first' type of mentality amazes me.

@RileyHawk

Regarding your post about a player of this caliber being in the transfer portal:

If someone just looked at his stats, you are correct, we would be drooling over him.

If someone watched him play and paid attention to how immobile he is now, we would realize his skills TODAY, bring us very little outside of a catch and shoot player.

The question you need to ask yourself is (and try to remove emotion from it): would you recruit a player with his skill set for one year?
I wouldn't if it was for 1 rebuilding/development year and that player is taking minutes from guys who need to develop. If Wieskamp is gone with Garza then next year is all about player development and Jbo taking 30 minutes a game doesn't help with that.

I’m sure he wants to come back and cash in on all that money he will get from his likeness and jersey sales. Come to think of it, I’ve never noticed anyone wearing his jersey. He ain’t gonna make too much money if he comes back so time to move on Jordan. Best of luck to you and thank you for all that you have done for Iowa Basketball but buh bye.

The real question is how many of you would buy stuff he could profit off of or offer him advertising/endorsement deals? No one outside one half of Iowa knows or cares anything about him.

While JBo says he'd come back to Iowa, he might not really care where he ends up and might prefer somewhere else. He'd be a great fit at Kentucky. He'd get a lot of exposure and they need a shooter. He would fit into their one and done environment. We get to keep CJ.

I don't think there is any question you have to bring him back. He cannot start unless he earns it and that needs to be made pretty clear

LOL! IF he comes back, he'll play as much as he did this year if Fran allows his return, and no doubt in my mind Fran will allow it if it comes to that. I would be absolutely stunned if he cut his minutes.

Iowa needs to clean house after this year, no way around it.
Well they’ll be without Garza and Nunge for sure. Most likely Bohannon and maybe Weezy and CMac. Hopefully CJF sticks around or may have a whole new starting lineup.

I...I don’t want him to come back for another year. I know some will be butt hurt by that opinion but it’s just time to move on imo
Totally agree. His time is up here. We don't need his off court twitter antics or his on court lack of athleticism. Great career and many thanks. Once a hawk, always a hawk.

I get the feeling JBo is trolling a lot of you.
I am wondering if maybe that is the case too, because he seems too smart to post something that tone deaf.

Then again... It wouldn't completely surprise me if this is exactly how he thinks about the situation either.

Idk. Seems like it benefits no one to troll the people you hope to make money off of in the future.

"How is this different than Jalen Coleman Lands, Sean Foster or Cotton Moya?" And Jesse Settles....

Everyone loved JBO when he was draining GW 3’s. I can copy and paste 2018 - 19 board posts if anyone disagrees?

Now the kid mentions coming back....and he is regarded as a pariah by most??

Not a fan of his Twitter posts, but this kid worked his ass off after hip surgery to be there for Hawkeye nation. Has anyone on this board attempted to come back from hip surgery to play D1 basketball? Doubtful...

Although I am in agreement that JBO coming back provides a disservice to JT, Ulis, and possibly Perkins, but after all he is still JBO right?

I understand the Tweets makes him hard to love, but geezus is he not one of the all-time Hawkeye greats?

Truly I am indifferent as to him possibly coming back. This decision may not rest with the senate, but rather fall into the hands of the person who just received an extended contract to keep our rafters empty of banners.

Let’s keep our focus as to who is to blame for this season’s bust. It is not JBO.....

Hello, this is Jordan Bohannon. Did you know you could save up to $400 a year by switching to Geico?
