Jordan Bohannon

I do think getting Bohannon to the free throw line could’ve been a good way to help him find his stroke
Of course it is, but how do you go about doing it? You don't draw many fouls shooting 3s, you do it by attacking the rim and getting defenders beat or caught in a bad position. Hate to break it to you but jbo isn't gonna beat many defenders or catch many big guys out of position in the lane he's just too slow. He used to be able to surprise some guys but i think since the hip injury he just doesn't have any first step quickness.

Dribble into the lane and look for contact. Maybe it results in a bad shot, but potentially worth it

You have to be able to successfully dribble past your defender... have you seen Jbo do that with much success? You make it sound like anybody from the YMCA can just go out there dribble into the heart of the D and maybe get a foul call? It takes a lot of skill and ability to do that successfully. I know James Harden makes it look easy but it's because he's incredibly difficult to stay in front of.

I’ve seen him get into the lane with success several times this year. It’s not like he tries it and fails very often. Usually he’s able to at least get into the lane because he catches the defender off guard. Set a pick or something. Getting into the lane on man defense isn’t the hard part if the team is making a concerted effort for it to happen

He's made 10 2pt shots and has 12ft attempts all year

Well if your hypothesis is correct and Jbo is just choosing to not beat his defender because he doesn't feel like it then that's frustrating for a whole different set of reasons. My eyes tell me it's not happening because the physical limitations are preventing it.

What about off of missed shots in transition? Usually he brings the ball up, and weaves his way across the court. He could put his head down while the defense is backpedaling. Why does it have to be in a half court offensive set?

You're right that is a great opportunity but that also requires a lot of speed. Guys who come to mind who were great at this are John Wall, Ty Lawson, Coby White, Darren Collison, D'aron Fox, Westbrook those guys could push the ball down the court so fast the defense couldn't even get turned around. Not so easy to do when you're the slowest guard in the conference and have had hip issues as well. JT has the wheels for it when the opportunity presents itself, but that's a tall order for Jbo. He weaves around because that's his mechanism for creating space in the absence of straight line speed.

He doesn’t need to score, the idea is to draw a foul. If Iowa is in the bonus it doesn’t even need to be on a shot. Weird conversation here, all I’m saying is that it wouldn’t hurt to try to be more aggressive off the dribble when shots aren’t falling (especially if they aren’t for his teammates either). That goes for everybody, especially Wieskamp

Last response haha: i agree with you being more aggressive off the dribble can definitely help especially in a game where shots aren't falling like Indiana. However i think we are somewhat limited in guys who can do that successfully, Wieskamp definitely could do it more and I wish he would. Joe T does it when he plays for the most part.

But our personnel is mostly suited for what we do best and that's play inside out, create great spacing with shooters, move and screen hard off the ball, push the ball using great passing. Getting to the rim off their own dribble is not a relative strong point for most guys on the team.
