Did he say when he would be making a decision on turning pro? I believe we all think he's going but you never know until they confirm. What a fantastic season he has had.

He has made his decision but is not ready to announce it. Said he will do so after the new year.

he has too much helium to not go . Love to have him back . need the secondary to be nails while the LBs get their footing . Hope He goes to a team with other Hawkeyes on it if He goes. SD or GB would be nice.

Definitely think he is gone. He has the size and the measurables to go along with the production. And has room to grow. Should be interesting to see who emerges next year at corner. Rugamba still has huge upside but battled injuries and confidence issues this year. Hankins has huge upside, Ojemudia had his moments and he will be a senior. Then you have guys like Josh Turner, Cam Harrell and Trey Creamer who redshirted and Cedric Boswell as well. Plus some really good true freshman. Should be loaded at corner.

I think he's gone. Of all the other reasons he's actually graduating this may. To a lot of guys believe it or not not getting that degree is important. Even if it's just for Mama.

Looks like ojemudia will be a junior next year. I think he could be good if he gets focused and works at it.

The good news is Hankins, Rugumba and Ojemudia all have some experience. Also, Hooker and Gervase returning helps. Stone will be there and Snyder who knows. Not to mention all the talent coming in at DB and safety. The biggest question marks will be LB’s.

My hunch is that Jackson will leave early, although I certainly would not be disappointed to hear that he is staying. He would instantly be our #1 "recruit" for 2018. :)

But it is weird to think that he wasn't even a regular starter the year before (2016), then, suddenly, he is "all world" in 2017. You just never really know about these things.

Josh is not stupid.... if he wants to play next level he goes now. There’s nothing but risk coming back. Good for him to have worked and played himself into this opportunity. It only helps us in recruiting too for more players.

The shocking thing to me is that 50% of the posters think this is even a debatable decision!!!

It's not so much that it's a debatable decision, it's more that we were right here with Dez King and he came back (when, frankly, he probably shouldn't have). It's hard to say what gets people out of bed in the morning and how they apply relative value to things. As a business decision, this is an absolute no-brainer. As an education thing, he'll have his degree, so that's done. As a "where does he want to be" question, who knows. If I had to bet all my money on his decision, I'd say he goes, but I'd have been broke if I'd done the same thing on King.

King did not get projections in the first two rounds from the NFL. That’s the real reason he came back but as we saw it did not help. The good news is he is proving everyone foolish.

Josh is going to get a projection in the first two rounds from the NFL.

I don't think the coaches should even allow him to come back. His draft stock can't really get better. He's already one of the top 3 or 4 DBs in the draft and probably the best CB. He's pretty much a lock for the first round and if you're actually looking out for his best interest, you make him go.

I thought he did have a consensus 2nd round projection with a few putting him late in the first round. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

As long as he's discussed it with the staff and hopefully had some input from King, he can make the best decision for him. It's easy for some to say that King made a mistake coming back and missed out on being a higher pick with more money, but you also have to factor if coming back for that year still led to more improvement and that's why he'd being successful as a rookie that maybe he'd have missed without that year. Is going early, getting that money, but maybe being a bust better than waiting that extra year, getting more seasoned, not going as high but succeeding so you get a second contract better. Of course you could stick around an not learn anything new, but our staff is pretty good at developing guys with what they need to play in the NFL so in an Iowa case, that year of development could take you from a Amari Spievey who flopped to a Fletcher/King/Godfrey etc at D-Back that took advantage of every year of eligibility and turned into an 8 year career..

If he does go pro, he likely will drop out of school and not graduate in May. That is what most early entrants do.

Hopefully he finishes up in another offseason. Best of luck to Josh.

Yes, he has. However, trying to remember who returned punts one game (not MV) and had some problems. Thought it was JJ.

From the NFL and not some washed up ESPN draft projector like Kiper? There’s a big difference.

Sometimes boys become men overnight.

I'm just going by memory, but I had thought yes from the NFL....but I could very well be wrong.

His final play as a hawk will be an INT to help seal a needed bowl win and his 8th int on the year....that'll tie him for season high in Iowa history and tops for this year in all FBS.

He is gone........

I'm pretty sure the draft advisory board told him he had a few things to work on, especially his speed, which usually means he was projected as going later than the 2nd round. But that's from memory as well, also could be wrong.

Rather than just announcing he is going pro, is he just making sure he will be first round after the season is over? Or what else could be the cause for delaying his announcement.

If he knows what he's going to do and if he was coming back I think he'd just announce it. He may be playing agents against one another or wanting to tell family, coaches etc. before announcing HE GONE.
