Josh Ogundele

I think if you look back that a lot of posters thought he was a project. I reserved judgment because frankly, there just wasn't enough video on him to make a reasonable judgment.

That said, I see potential but he's no where near ready for many B1G minutes. 5 - 10 minutes a game as needed, but he is still trying to figure it out. Not sure if the light will come on but I hope so.

Mulvey has shown more potential in his HS videos. He still looks like a deer in the headlights out there, but he does have a nose for the ball rebounding.

I hope at least one of these 2 can pan out.
I think RM can help us on the boards and maybe 2-4 points per game.......

This Cletey guy really busts a nut every time an end of the bench player does something positive and he can dig up an old thread where something negative was said about end of the bench player.

By LAZY, I mean he is never going to be able to keep up with with real meat of B1G posts. He looks a step behind Mulvey, let alone Hunter and Kofi.
He's still a project player nearly two years later. That ain't it chief.

His best attribute right now: he has 5 fouls to give.
The kid lost over 50 pounds. Anyone who does that is certainly not lazy. That takes a lot of work every day. Let’s give him some time to develop and come around.

You can give Josh all the time he needs but it won't be soon enough for some on here to satisfy their desire to see him in the lineup. It will be a long time before he's ready for any primetime action that Iowa needs at the center position. If Iowa needs a big body to go against Kofi, Dickinson, or the 2 Purdue centers Fran will have to call on Mulvey to fill the bill, that's just the reality we have to except....

I'm one of those in the camp that was hoping he'd be ready to contribute useful minutes at the 5, but that just does not appear to be the case. I think you're right that when it comes time to play Cockburn and Dickinson it will be Mulvey's 5 fouls that will be called on.

not sure if Mulvey is ready, either. he's supposed to be a high school senior this year.

it's going to be interesting to see what the plan will be vs Purdue on Dec 3 and Illinois on Dec 6.

and that's too bad because Riley ideally would redshirt this year and develop

its really disappointing that a 2nd year player (Josh) has been passed up by a kid (Riley) who should still be in high school

I want to see Ogundele succeed, just as we all do, but he doesn’t have forever to develop into a Big Ten caliber player. Based on what we’ve seen, Riley is already the more skilled/fluid player as a true freshman, and Owen Freeman is coming in hot as a guy who looks to be a contributor in either his first or second year in the program. Josh is in danger of being buried unless he sees exponential growth in his game

I'm not ready to discount Rebraca as a tough center defender. He's got some grit to his game and I don't see him backing down from anyone. Doesn't mean he can shut them down, but I don't think he will display a matador style of defense.

Frankly, of our next five games, I am ready to concede the @Purdue game, but I think the other four are at least very winnable, winnable or a push.

The games are played on the court, not on the internet....I'm sure the Iowa players are not pointing to certain games on their schedule and conceding those games as non-winnable.
It so happens Iowa has a pretty good player on their roster that is averaging 26+ points a game and a few others that provide additional headaches for Iowa opponents.
I'll wait until the games have concluded before I anoint any one team in the Big Ten as a non-winnable game. So far Michigan and Illinois, 2 of the so called heavy weights in the BIG have not looked the part, and Ohio St, and Purdue have had to make last minute shots to escape defeat. All the other teams in the BIG have looked unimpressive.

We won't have freeman for two years unfortunately. Ogundele will be a senior then.

We're going to need to do some heavy recruiting. Maybe if we have a good year this year we can convince some youngsters we're the real deal. If we can finish in the top 5 of the big ten and beat ore season predictions we'll be looking pretty attractive to recruits I would think.

Transfer portal is likely to become more important, not less.
Hopefully Fran and staff will embrace it with a philosophy around a corps of players that stick it out with the program for the duration supplemented by players from the portal who fill a need for a year or two.
Honest post season conversations with players that aren't likely to get PT would allow for all parties to move ahead in their best interest.

especially if we lose Keegan in the spring
