JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said Monday that markets and central bankers underappreciate the risks created by record U.S. deficits, tariffs and international tensions.

Dimon, the veteran CEO and chairman of the biggest U.S. bank by assets, explained his worldview during his bank’s annual investor day meeting in New York. He said he believes the risks of higher inflation and even stagflation aren’t properly represented by stock market values, which have staged a comeback from lows in April.

Most economists see a big problem in the 3rd quarter...August/September/October when tariff policy kicks in.

It's exactly what retailers like Walmart and Target are planning for.

Sure, if your news is 2 months old. I posted this shit for you then, directly from the KC Fed.

Now, nothing, "stagflation" for the hardest of panicked.

So the markets are gonna thrive under tariffs? Your qualifications vs Dimon’s are what, exactly?
Dimon also called for two recessions over the last 3 years, which never happened. They also changed the definition of recession under Biden, so there is that. Almost every economist has now backed off recession talk and elevated forecasts. Give him four months and he will be talking differently.
Lastly, market has never been down negative following a year when vix is over 40. Just like we’ve never had a negative midterm election year in our lifetime.

Seems that Biden and the Fed did an excellent job navigating a complex economic environment, then.

I assume you have the same confidence in Trump, Bessent, and Lutnick to thread the needle this go-round?

He has a big bullhorn and what he says has impact on returns in the market.

That’s not very specific, Trad.

So tariffs are generally positive or negative for the markets? Again: what are the motivations of a raging Marxist like Dimon?

Despite Biden policies and inflation, it was the fed that did the soft landing. Let’s not forget they were late to the party by three months and only raised .25 bps to start when everyone was saying .75-1%. Let’s not pay them too hard on the back

“Despite”…..

I dunno. I had a pretty good run from 2021-2024.

A soft landing should be applauded after what Trump left the U.S. with in 2021.

He wants what's best for JPMorgan Chase.

That's all.

Ah. So what’s best for JPMorgan isn’t what is best for the rest of us invested in the market?

That damn, selfish Dimon!!!! Damn him to hell.

Again: you haven’t done a very good job of explaining how tariffs are good for us simple folk.

Were the markets manipulated using the tariff's?
Good question that will be avoided at all costs.

If Whiskey hadn't shown himself to be a liar and a welch I would offer a bet to him - minimum 2 of 3 from the S&P, DOW and NASDAQ finish higher or lower at the end of the year. If they are higher, I donates $1000 to the UofI Children's Hospital and don't post on this forum for 1 year. If they are lower, he does the same.

It will be fun to see how he responds.

I'm still trying to bet Scrud for a bet to benefit some wrasslin NIL. He has gone silent tho. @Scruddy
