Sounds like the Hawks have a lot of recruits in. They are going after the St. Louis area hard. AJ's commitment could really help us pull more talent from the St. Louis area.

Over 40 guys. Most of the instate ones we have committed or that we might want.

Watching how some of the other Jr. Days have gone, at other campuses this last month, it is a very important day for schools to show what they have to offer. Penn State had 3 commits at theirs and Missouri and Rutgers made very good impressions on their attendees. Since we are trying to recruit the St. Louis and New Jersey areas, Sunday is a very big day for the Hawkeyes!

Ready need to make a mark on Chester Graves and McQuitty. Graves and Epenesa would be a special duo at the end spots. The St Louis area is HUGE for us this year.
Also need to make a mark on some receiver prospects. Don't know who we have coming, but if we can get Robertson on campus, he's another big prospect for us.
I really see this as the class for us to seriously upgrade our talent level at defensive end and wide receiver, arguably the two most important positions to the success of a football program besides quarterback.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks got a commit or two on Junior Day. I'm curious about Mark Kallenberger, the 2017 OL from Bettendorf. So far he's got offers from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas State and ISU. In the last interview (that I could find) he said he always wanted to play for Iowa, but also wanted to wait and take some more visits.

I think he wants an offer from Wisconsin.

Wonder how many offensive linemen we will take with a small class.

So our current junior commits plus Benjamin, Colbert, two St. Louis WR, I believe Graves and up to 40 recruits will be in town.

I doubt they take many OL in this class. They only have one senior on scholarship and that is Croston. I would guess two and at most 3.

Agree, which unfortunately might help ISU. If we get Kallenberger we might slow play a few and go for the big fish like the New Jersey kid. We needs more db's and wr's especially with Darby being uncertain. Colbert and McQuitty would be huge gets, also I love Jones the Ohio db.

Ambry Thomas and Isaiah Robertson should be high on everyone's list who want wide receivers and d backs.

With Wirfs committed, I doubt they will take more than 1or 2 more. To bad since this is a good O-line year in Iowa. Hope Kallenberger doesn't wait too long, want this kid n Black and Gold. he is very athletic and when he fills out, will be quite a talent.

I think they will offer Dykstra on Sunday and he would like to come to Iowa. Kallenberger better not wait too long, or his offer will be taken by others.

A DE prospect people should be watching, along with a couple others already mentioned, is...Earnest Brown...kid is starting to rack up some quality offers recently(Michigan and Texas), after he had already been offered by Oklahoma,Texas Tech,Iowa,Houston,Duke, etc...He mentioned having interest in Iowa recently(along with 4-5 other schools)..

With a smaller amount of schollies to hand out we may have to pass on a couple of good prospect that we would have taken in other years.

Went through the list of 2017 and 2018 recruits visiting this weekend. Could be one of the best from a talent level that I can recall. I am hoping for a couple verbal this weekend, but that may not happen. We will have a heavy dose of Missouri and Illinois recruits to go along with Iowa. In addition, several from Indiana, one from Ohio and possibly from Minnesota.

Should be an exciting weekend in Iowa City.

Looks like current Kentucky verbal-Russ Yeast- will be in IC this weekend... Iowa had offered before he verballed to KY.

He's a Rising star.

His vids look pretty good, doesn't look like a burner but could play several positions.

IowA has three seniors on scholarship. Croston, Ward and Keppy. Possible they won't all be on team this fall as Wars and Keppy haven't played much so not sure if they return

I think Ipwa takes 3 OL

That would be a foolish way to throw away about $20-25K, Besides, I think Ward showed signs of pushing for playing time last year - I think he starts the season in the 2 deeps.

Does anyone know if these kids get their travel expenses paid? I would assume so, but since they limit official visits, I would think there is some kind of control for junior day stuff.

Only official visits cover recruits' expenses and in high school, only seniors can take official visits.

These kids are there on their own dimes.

Russ Yeast is a 4-star recruit but appears to be firm in his UK commitment. He is on campus today with future high school teammate Titus McCoy. I've watched McCoy since he was in the first grade and this kid is fantastic. Don't let his size fool you.

I think Jones might be a little bit of an Indiana lean. Lot of big offensive linemen out there, not sure there is a huge difference between some of them and Kallenberger. I don't think either one of them are make or break for this class.

Is Jones close with his brother? Wondering if he has any interest in playing with him at ISU...

Said he would like to go someplace else and make a name for himself. Little brother in the shadow long enough.

Kallenberger is sick...said he will now come in to watch a spring practice. I have a feeling it will be awhile before he decides.

Looking at some of those pictures on Twitter and that Trevor Trout is a man child. He looks like a tank. GO hawks.
