Hawks have their 2026 junior day next weekend. Sounds like they have some solid prospects visiting. The coaches don't have much time off.

You are worried about the coaches only having a few weeks off since the bowl game. Geez, these guys make a few hundred thousand or more at a minimum coaching football which they love to do and they get paid even if they have a shitty record.

Most people make way, way less and many times not liking their jobs or getting bored with their jobs and if they dont perform at a 98-100% accuracy they get fired.

Must suck being you.

Give me that kind of salary, I won't mind not so much vacation. Plus put out a mediocre product.

You probably didn't mean anything by it, but my immediate response is: They get paid for it . . . incredibly well. So put in the time and take the money, or find another gig. There are plenty of people to show empathy for these days. Major college football coaches are nowhere on that list.

I didn't start this thread to debate the coaches compensation or work. Do any of you think they haven't worked since the bowl game. My comment was regarding time to recruit. I have a friend who retired a few years ago, the hours the staff puts in during the season is significant. I was hoping to discuss some of the upcoming visitors, oh well. forget it.

Most coaches started when they were in their early 20's making minimal wages. Most have spent 20 years working up to this level. They have had to sacrifice by moving from city to city. Very little time with their families and kids. So after 20 years they are now making above normal wages, so they deserve it. And the product they are putting on the field isn't necessary their fault. The head coach has a lot to do with that and now this GD nil money. If you want Iowa to be a top 10 team every year then you should apply for the head coaches job or find a multimillion dollar contributor like Oregon has. JMO

The wealthiest person in Iowa is a genetic seed engineer. I'd think if he were to donate it'd be to Ames.

Who are the standouts from that class? Also, do we think that the early commit process is going to get even weirder with portal and schools being able to directly pay?

I like this idea with one qualification. He's not the entire staff. The staff is entirely comprised of message board posters with everyone rotating through the HC position. MVHOMER gets first crack since it was his idea in the first place. You're up next since you seconded the motion to make the change. I'm up 3rd. 😃

Check across the land scape a bunch of 8 win teams... mediocre.

You’re right! All kinds of 9 win teams out there.
Just ask Nebraska who fired their 10 - 2 way back when. 15 years of winning national championships since😩
Has your wife upgraded since you’re just average? Sorry Just had to add my two cents🥰

Anymore I mostly keep my mouth shut. I thought as an Iowa fan it might be interesting to see if the Hawks were close on any recruits. But the same ones have to derail it to criticize the coach and program.

Well now that we've gotten the boomer conversation over, the list of visitors is pretty impressive for this weekend, thankfully it will be nicer out than it has been. Waukee WR, Isaiah Oliver has no rivals profile will also be in for junior day.
Commits:

Roman Voss is a kid from a small town in Minnesota, pretty cool story, recruitment is blowing up, crazy athleticism

Legacy recruit, his offers have started to pile up as well, visiting NW today

Iowa has been targeting Parliament pretty hard, his offers are piling up with a recent form Tennessee

Iowa recently jumped in on offering Johnson this week, he has offers from Oregon, KSU, Wisky, A&M to name a few, should be a 4* when it's all said and done.

Simpson is a high 3* that Iowa is facing an uphill battle with Wisky over

West kid, Iowa offered this summer.

Does he like recruiting 14 to 17 year olds?

Was surprised that Sutter and Riordan weren't on the list this weekend. Sounded like Sutter was a Hawk lean, maybe not. Riordan may come down to the Hawks or Illini.

It’s foolproof.

Coaches were in visiting Sutter recently. I don’t think the hawks are out.

Don’t see his profile listed above, but maybe due to only getting the Iowa offer Thursday or Friday, but 3* class of ‘26 TE/LB Trevor Gibbs of Crown Point, IN (6A, largest class for football) now has an Iowa offer. 6’3”/235-ish. 4 Big 10 offers include: IU, Illinois, Iowa and just yesterday, PU. Bunch of MAC schools. Likely more P4 offers to come.
