Iowa is possibly seeded #1 in Pool D with a talented Okie squad. Junes has put out a ton of wrestling. Wowser.A lot of respect for quite a few Oklahoma wrestlers. Could Fix bump up?
Go Iowa and then some.

PS Az im sorry to hear about yer ma
See ya at Fargo I hope

Thanks bubba...been a shit magnet like couple of months. She came over from England pretty sick and we brought her down here last August so she was around my wife and I until the end in March. Hate to use cliches but she was ready to go.

Okie is going to be tough in both styles. Some monster lower weight guys.

Can someone explain dual team scoring for Greco and Free? Always a little confused by the scores.

How does Utah State get 7 points, when all they have is a Fall? (normally 6 points in Folk)

3 points for a decision, 4 for a tech, 5 for a fall. However, if the losing wrestler scores, his team gets 1 point, unless he gets pinned. So, matches where both wrestlers score are scored 3-1 for a decision, 4-1 for a tech and still 5-0 for a fall. Shutting an opponent out is a big deal as they don't get that point.

CHAPTER 7 - CLASSIFICATION POINTS AWARDED AFTER A BOUT

Article 43 - Classification points

The classification points awarded to a wrestler shall determine his

final ranking.

5 points for the winner and 0 for the loser:

- victory by fall (with or without technical point for the loser)

- injury

- withdrawal, forfeit, and default (see page 66 for USAW Modifcation)

- disqualification

- USAW Modification: For Cadet & Junior Nationals - failure

to make weight, if he/she is eliminated on the 2nd day weigh-in.

4 points for the winner and 0 for the loser:

- victory by technical superiority (8 point difference in Greco-Roman

style and 10 point in Freestyle), with the loser scoring no technical

points

4 points for the winner and 1 for the loser:

- victory by technical superiority with loser scoring technical point(s)

3 points for the winner and 0 point for the loser:

- When the wrestler wins at the end of the two periods by 1 to 7 points

in Greco-Roman style and 1 to 9 points in Freestyle with the loser

scoring no point

3 points for the winner and 1 point for the loser:

- When the bout ends by a victory by points at the end of the regular

time and the loser scoring one or several technical points

40

0 point for the red wrestler and 0 point for the blue wrestler

- in case both wrestlers have been disqualified due to infraction to the

rules.

Brandon Baker is sending kids flying today. He's always been a Greco stud but seems to have a little more "swag" this year. We'll see if he can keep it up against Duffield next.

PA leading Okie 22-18

Interesting..
Brik Filippo (Oklahoma Red) over Sam Sasso (Pennsylvania) Dec 6-1

All I can say is - it's Greco. I watched the match live - couple of pushout points by Filippo in the 1st. One on a neat little trick as Sasso was pushing him out, the other I missed. 2-0 with about 20 secs to go when Sasso tried a desparation which resulted in a Filippo TD right into a gut right into a Sasso rollthrough for a reversal. Thought it was probably a slip (there were two called earlier - one on each - which looked the same but who knows), but wouldn't have mattered anyway as the OK kid was going to win at that point. Sasso actually gained a team point out of the exchange.

I don't think that Sasso has ever had any high level success at Greco. Freestyle is a different story.

Sasso got 5th at Fargo last year in Greco. He's not a slump in that style. He does look very small for the weight though. They weighed in last night.

Wasn't aware of that, thanks. Agree he's probably small for that weight considering the weigh in rules, but that's where I'd expect him to compete at an event like this given his history of not shying away from moving up weight classes in the offseason and it probably helps fill out the team. PA is forfeiting 2 weight classes in Greco here - pretty unacceptable IMO for a state like PA even with it being in Tulsa. As I stated in the above post, hopefully a kid like Josh's involvement in the future will help out in this regards. He is a very well liked young man here and hopefully can have an effect on recruiting kids for teams like this in the future.

I hear you. I'm watching their dual with my Nebraska kids right now. They still have some ready good kids on their team. I'd love for them to bring their hammers one year.
