Just for the hell of it, “official” Panama Canal numbers ….

Are a little different than those my President alluded to today during his EO signing session with press in hand.

Part of his history lesson was dedicated to why the Panama Canal should be returned to American control. He pointed out that “thousands of American construction workers gave their lives” to this project. Well, “official numbers” don’t bear that out. America assumed construction of the Canal in 1904 and the Canal opened in 1914. During that time OFFICIAL numbers indicate that less than 400 American canal workers died there as a result of accident or disease. Another 5500 contracted workers ( contracted from nearby Central American countries) died from accidents or disease . Prior to the Americans taking control of the construction from the French, approximately 22000 workers had died constructing the Canal. Now these are “official” numbers and the real actual numbers are probably higher, but not to the levels that my President wants us to believe. In fact I would wager that most Americans never knew that the Canal project was originally started by the French.

So here you go…. Just some pesky “facts” to consider the next time our national historian and know-it-all starts feeding you his minions, his next new line of shit. Remember… there are two sides of the story….Donald's side and the the truth.
