Just one comment at this moment

Growing pains. I am sure we will have a few more before these guys figure it out, but man they are fun to watch.

Some key guys in the last generation of players had to learn to be aggressive in a way that key guys in this class don't. They'll still lose some head scratchers, but they seem to be learning faster.

I think we win at least two of the games we lost, if not more, just by playing something like the defense we're playing now.

Would you like to give Michigan football a do-over on our game in November? I think not.

Woke up Dec 4th and the Hawkeyes were 3-5.

It's Jan 2nd and since then the Hawkeyes are 6-1. Wins against Iowa State, UNI, and Michigan.

How would you like to go back and play those first eight games again?
Everyone except Virginia.

Just trying to make a point about how far the young guys have come. As to football, I don't really follow it since guys die from playing it.

To be fair, many people have died playing basketball. Tall people seem to suffer fromaortic dissections and arrhythmias. Marfans syndrome is a common cause.

I've heard that. Dan53 died of something similar. Or so I heard.

We have been playing much better of late, for sure. This team is going to lose plenty of games. Plenty. This is an incredibly young team and they have played like it. We have a lot of young talent but so does the rest of the league.

You wouldn't try and compare the sports but you lost an article that has football number one and basketball number two?

I understand your feelings and we don't let our boys play football although I thouroughly and completely love watching Iowa football. Everything in life has risk though. Life is weighing the risks and benefits of every decision and choosing what's best. There are also risks to basketball. That's all I was saying. I realize the risk of football may be bigger.

Gathers was my first thought also. But. It's pointless to blame someone who died playing a sport they loved if that's what truly caused their death. Steffi Graff almost died from a knife playing tennis; what does it mean? What it means is enjoy life while you can.

I really wasn't trying to compare. Go back to my first comment on the subject, I just said in response to another poster that I don't follow football and said why.

Seriously? "You wouldn't try and compare the sports but you l(p)ost an article that has football number one and basketball number two?"

So don't open the damn link.

You are really good at excuses.

Sensitive are you?

I opened the link which you posted. If you didn't want me to open the link, don't post it in response to me. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding you, you're not making any sense. Or I'm not making any sense, which is always a possibility.

I thought it was Martina Hingis that got stabbed not Steffi. I guess she could have been stabbed also I just don't remember it. Get your point though.

Pain medication fetnyl pathces can make people do things. DanL is a great poster. I will take a bullet.

I made a comment about not following football and why. If folks want to make a big deal of it and bring up dead athletes or genetic impairments that's up to them.

Seems to me to be a lot of excuse making to keep the blinders on about watching guys get their noggins' mixed around as if in a blender. So, I don't expect logical points about something that can't be argued with logic.

As to who went looking to argue, I think this thread speaks for itself. A guy can't express a personal preference without being called to task on it?

My original post said, to be fair, basketball has caused deaths. I'm not sure that's taking you to task for expressing an opinion that I also state I agree with since I don't let my kids play football.

You're still to sensitive. I also generally enjoy your posts and agree with you most of the time. But you're too sensitive.

Yes.
You are one weird dude. ;) That's supposed to be a compliment. You still going strong through New Years Eve, or is this round two or three?
Weird is waking up one day after your mom who has afib has a stroke and you are the elder son. I am sure you meant I was weird by that standard,

Agree. Love watching Iowa Basketball win or lose. Watching Iowa FB is like watching Licklighter Basketball with a larger percentage of wins. At some point, I want to be entertained. IA Basketball does that and will continue to do it at a higher level as we get better and better players in. Which, btw, is happening.

It's because those guys were starting out battling growing pains AND fixing a broken culture. They helped pave the way for this new crop of Hawkeyes.

If you say so. If I had to say, I'm in a good mood and not feeling overly sensitive about any of your remarks.

Great analogy. If Lick got to the NIT most years it would almost be a perfect comparison. I watch Iowa football but trying to convince a non-Iowa fan it is interesting, let alone entertaining, is virtually impossible. One of the things I like about Fran is that he seems like he has the aspirations to take Iowa to the highest level it is capable of reaching. I don't know if he will do it or if he is even capable of doing it, but I like the approach. Football's approach is more like we are going to do it exactly how we do it and never waver because that is all Iowa is capable of.

Love it. A little more detailed, but yeah, you get my point. Thanks for expanding it.
Love Kirk...... just wish he would reinvent himself..... it ain't gonna happen. Appreciate all he has done, but I wish he had a little more pizazz to him. Anyway, probably best for another thread. :)

I apologize to you DanL53. Sometimes I invest way too much emotion into my beloved Hawkeyes. My snark was uncalled for. You would probably get a chuckle out of this...I joined Rivals the day you and Bob quit Rivals. The day the mod finally got on the ball and dismissed a passive agressive sort. I have no idea where the misunderstanding occurred but I am willing to start over. Like I said, your input on basketball is valuable.

Shoot, I didn't think anything of it. I'm glad you are a Hawkeye fan. Sometimes my explanations get me in worse trouble than if I just keep my fingers off the keyboard.

If we beat Nebraska-Omaha, do we go on to win 5/6? Personally, I think the game was a wake-up call, but I don't know if "wake-up calls" are actually a thing in higher-level sports.

I'd go back and grab the Memphis game and, maybe, the Seton Hall game. I'd still drop the Omaha game so that the guys don't get too cocky.

I like this game.

I like your point. How about, we beat Memphis, SH., lose to Neb-O, and win these next two against Nebraska and Rutgers?
