DeSantis now realizing the best option for winning the ‘24 gop nomination is embracing the Swedish model. Better late than never.

Jeesh. He didn't say "don't wear a mask". He's just taking away fines for not doing so.

He didn't say, "everyone rush into bars and restaurants". He's still saying there should be social distancing in bars.

I really don't understand what some of you folks want. What would you do? Continue to keep everything closed, or at half capacity? So many want to criticize or offer snide remarks, but don't have any solutions for the millions out of work or losing their businesses.

Most of our nursing home locations are now officially COVID-free. I believe the last round of weekly testing only detected COVID in three of our buildings.

Again, he is opening businesses and that's to be expected and should proceed if safe. The fines should be in place. If Florida doesn't want to fine the individual, it can fine the business for allowing no masks. And you are being obtuse if you are suggesting that this governor's statement that connects fully opening up businesses with removing the fine on masks--with no further statement on the need to wear a mask, the importance of wearing a mask--does not suggest to the poorly educated in Florida that not wearing a mask is "just fine."

Maybe I'm being obtuse. Or maybe I think businesses will still require masks. Maybe I don't think blue hairs will be clamoring to bars. Maybe I think if blue hairs do go out without a mask into crowded places, they are making a choice for themselves.

My 80-something-year-old mother-in-law has been in isolation since March. When my wife goes to visit her, she sits outside and the speak through an open window.

yes, but when that blue hair goes to Publix w/o her mask and proceeds to effect several innocents. I guess the innocent are just SOL in your utopian Eden. And you are being a liar stating blue hairs don’t go to bars in Florida. And Tarpon just identifies bars in Ybor or Tampa not Applying the rules.

A death is a death doesn’t matter when it happens. If we are going to blame politicians for Covid deaths(Biden said Trump caused all 200,000 people to die) then Cuomo gets blamed for all of 35,000 deaths in NY. You guys make the rules.
So it's ok for Florida to have way more daily deaths as long as it's below New York's? Maybe we do owe DeSantis and apology

Only Maine has (slightly) more residents than Florida over the age of 65, and those numbers probably aren't counting snowbirds with a seasonal house.

The fact that you, or anyone would compare a natural pandemic to a terrorist act by people is amusing. Unless you believe this virus was in fact man made and unleashed by a group of people?
I still think it was created in a Chinese lab and they have a secret vaccine which is why they were able to slam the door on the virus so quick in Wuhan.

Whether it was intentionally released is debatable.

DeSantis has been treated as the Devil by leftists like you and Cuomo heralded as an angel. Check the stats. They are not in your favor.

Check the economic standing of each state as well right now. NY is in terrible economic shape because of restrictions and Florida is doing much better so yes you do DeSantis an apology and be thankful he is your governor instead of Cuomo.
