This was a weird hold out. He has three years left on his current contract and in the world of NFL contracts had no leverage. For some reason he thought losing about $500,000 this year was a smart thing to do.

I'm all for players getting more money, but I don't think this was the right thing to do. If they would have caved in, everyone would have wanted more.

Exactly. This is why the Seahags held so firm. I read somewhere else too, other owners were egging on Allen to hold firm cause players across the league would then feel empowered to do the exact same thing if Allen caved.

Kam probably came to the realization he was a complete idiot to sign the deal he did as far as staying a Seahawk - and his agent scoured the league and figured out forcing a trade wasn't going to get him to both a good to great team at the money he ultimately wanted.

Now watch...he's not ready, he'll play way too early, get hurt, and miss the rest of the season. Holdouts seem to end that way in the NFL.

Good points bag dropper. It will be interesting to see how quickly Seattle presses him into FT duty. I'm sure he stayed in shape, but missing camp, preseason, etc. will take their toll.

There is such a thing as "playing shape".

He may have also lost respect in the locker room as well.

No one is against you getting paid but when you agree to a deal with the team you agree to be there. That doesn't give you the right to notice other people on the team are getting paid and then go "BUT I WANT MORE"

I love Kam, but the team needs to make an example of him and trade him

could cost him over $2,000,000. he would have to pay back his pro-rated signing bonus, fines for missing training camp, and 2 games. the team could give in, but then the team could get pressured from other owners to make him pay.

So what? No pay checks, plus fines. He'll be Playing soon enough. They could get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him.

If I where a GM I would want to know this guy is going to actually play for me before I start sending draft picks for him.

We'll see on the fines. I think that will get dropped and it's just the game checks he'll miss. It will be interesting to see if he is active for the Bears game. The Seahawks would be justified in saying he is unable to play due to a lack of conditioning.
