Semi-related, here is the GOAT tattoo:

This person got a tattoo of a slice of QC style pizza on their arm.

Growing up in my family, you'd have to fight a cousin or two to get the corner piece. Stabbing optional.

The answer is for someone, or a group of investors, to buy that corner and close the place down. Then turn it into a restaurant or an expensive bar. The Capital Theatre is being re-opened, so they will be able to support it with more foot traffic.

If Davison will not sell, then you crawl up his ass by citing him for every code violation, trash outside his bar (he never cleans it up) as it consistently looks like shit, and heavy police presence to chase the seedy clientele away, which is every one of them.

Torbee this is a loose tangent but have you heard how the River Room is doing at that new Hyatt? We went there for drinks one night before heading out to try dinner at the combine and it certainly has a nice view. Way out of the way though.

No idea, but that section of East Moline definitely seems to be on the come-up. Hard to believe!

I've heard that hotel is losing money hand over fist and its only a matter of time before it closes

I believe that the Hyatt was built with the belief that they would get the majority of the John Deere business that was being conducted in town. It is a nice hotel, but there is nothing around it, so frequent visitors opt to stay elsewhere. If it goes out of business, it would not close. It will be sold at a loss, perhaps two or three times until it finds its price point and equilibrium in the market. Also, eventually other restaurants and bars will open nearby.

I can see that. It is just so out of the way. You have to want to go there to stay/eat/drink there. With that said, the view is great and combine was pretty good.

My son goes to Williams and said that there are multiple fights every day. Thugs, no schooling

Soooo many hotels in the QC.. woulda been a good spot to plop up another casino. Really not sure why anyone would want to stay out there regardless of how many bars and restaurants open up but hopefully it does well. That room on the top is really nice though.. been there for a few events.. great view

I think the vision there is for a the Hotel, some movie theatres, housing around it, some shopping. I have seen some places similar to this in Columbus Ohio and elsewhere. I do not think we have the income/population base to support it though.

Stayed at Hotel Blackhawk a few weeks ago, ate lunch at me and Billy's down the street and dinner at Duck City Bistro. The guy that owns that joint is a little different but a really good meal. Was a good time. CSB/

I would agree, unless they think there is a lot of untapped disposable income on the other side of the river. I would much rather spend my time and money in downtown davenport or else the 53rd corridor than drive across the river and out of the way, and I would also rather support Iowa businesses.

90 Calls to that bar so far this year. 100 on 100 fights. Large group fights multiple times over the last 5 months. Show me another bar in the QC that comes close to this? There are none, hopefully that crowd breaks up and goes to multiple other bars and breaks the cycle of stinking groupthinking that goes on in that bar. Too much drama.

Times just had a story that the hotel exceeded both revenue and occupancy targets in year 1.
I was at the Rust Belt complex last night and the place was absolutely hopping.

I would have never, ever believed it, but East Moline appears to be inexplicably on the come-up.

Just a bunch of good kids with good hearts trying to get past a tough spot in life.....

Lots of cool stuff going on there. What’s the flood risk for that spot?

I'm surprised. I've heard very much the other way but I'm happy to hear it!

I was surprised too. I suppose they could be BSing, but here is the story:

EAST MOLINE — A bevy of groundbreakings at The Bend have been announced on the one-year anniversary for the city's riverfront development site.

Aaron Tennant and Larry Anderson, leaders of Bend Land Development Co., have purchased the 132-acre site, excluding the Hyatt House/Hyatt Place hotel, from Great River Property, the original developers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Anderson is a partner in Great River Property, which developed the former Case plant property in an area once known as Frogtown.

"There is a plan in place for the hotel to be sold as well,'' Great River Property manager Mike VanDeHeede said.

VanDeHeede said the hotel, which opened Dec. 12, 2018, has exceeded first-year sales and occupancy projections.

"That, though, is for another time," he said. "Today, we celebrate an amazing first year and more to come.''

Tennant, a longtime trucking executive, and Anderson, also president of East Moline Glass, will complete the 72-unit Riverbend Commons apartment venture this winter and expand the Rust Belt development, adding a 102,000 square-feet expo center.

One of America's premier auction houses, which remains nameless until the deal is inked, anticipates moving into the expo center, they said.

"I'm an East Moline guy,'' Anderson said. ''It's why I jumped into the hotel project and I'm in this. I want what's best for the city. When I'd go to Champaign or Bloomington, Illinois, and even Annapolis, Maryland, I'd see they had so many things to draw people to their towns. I wanted that here.

"We have that in the hotel, but when I heard people ask if the hotel could handle their class reunion or wedding and it couldn't, we decided the events/reception center had to be here,'' Anderson said.

The events center has 38 weddings booked for next year.

In addition to Tennant and Anderson's announcement, the day produced one done-deal site purchase and one nearly final.

Chad Pregracke, founder of Living Lands & Waters, has purchased a vacant McLaughlin Body Co. property west of the Rust Belt.

Tim Knanishu, executive vice-president of Redeem East Moline, said Pregracke's facility will produce environmentally friendly and eco-impactful products.

"It is a great commitment on Chad's part,'' Knanishu said. "There are details to be worked out, but he has a great plan in place for the building.''

A longtime local manufacturing company plans to acquire one of the vacant McLaughlin buildings on East Moline's 12th Ave., just east of The Bend.

Knanishu could not reveal the name of the company.

"Both want to do their 'due diligence' when it comes to something this important,'' he said. "Things are progressing, but there needs to be patience here. It's a tremendous company with a great plan.''

Tennant, sipping a coffee purchased the Rust Belt's Iron + Grain coffeehouse, said potential is unlimited for the entire Bend complex.

"For better or worse, we had a sold out concert (at the Rust Belt) not too long ago and Larry and I found ourselves at the entrance checking IDs,'' Tennant said. "Hey, you do what you have to do. Tim Knanishu was parking cars with my son; Mike (VanDeHeede) was helping out, Mayor (Reggie) Freeman was there and we all were making sure things went well. That night I saw IDs from across the country and a young lady who showed me her passport from South Korea. That's the goal, to bring people here not only from the Quad-Cities but from across the country and beyond."
