Kemerer wrestled and lost to the #1 wrestler last night, Jason Nolf by a score of 9-4. Coming into the match, Nolf was 11-0 with 7 falls, 3 TF, and 1 MD. Prior to last night, Nolf's closest match was 15-7.

Kemerer lost and that sucks but I am extremely excited to have him wrestle for Iowa. For many programs, having a freshman ranked #2 would be more than acceptable.

I like where your head is at... Let the other thread die. We should do that with other crap threads. Especially negative crap posted by haters. Kemerer has work to do and he is in the best room for it.

I agree.. Anyone who wants to dump on Michael Kemerer for wrestling the #1 ranked wrestler and giving him his closest match of the season... while competing in his first year as a starter and working to currently be ranked #2 as a Freshman should be ashamed of themselves... These 2 will face each other many times over the next several years.. Michael is getting better and he will close the gap..

I posted a couple of weeks ago that none of the top 10 guys will grow into the weight more than Kemdawg. He will gain confidence and bring more offense as his strength continues to increase. It won't surprise me a bit when he beats him in a couple of months.

Strong work starting this thread, Vall. Kemdawg most definitely deserves our support, as all of his teammates do.

For those of you who have been hibernating for the last couple of years, Iowa wrestling is on the upswing. Things are looking darn good in a couple of years.

Kid has great hips. Just a bit slow to his offense compared to Nolf. Possibly some big brother deal in play given Nolf was the king of young guns. Good kid with a bright future.

No, I didn't mean it as a joke. It's frustrating and unfortunate the Hawks have had so many top wrestlers face devastating injuries the past few years.
Apparently I have a different sense of humor than some here...2nd person who hasn't gotten my joke...I was referring to Clark's match with Brock where the PD calls were made when he had the wing and arm BAR

Good to see this replacing the other thread, was thinking of this and saw somewhere something like 1% of high school wrestlers go to wrestle Div 1. Of Div 1 wrestlers what percent make AA, probably less than 5%, i am only accountant so numbers not my thing but this seems like Div 1 AA club is pretty freaking exclusive. We probably should be respectful of the skill level , dedication, sacrifices and the way these kids are living there lives before trashing the effort. MK is a phenomenal wrestler and as someone who never made it to the Div 1 level I sure appreciate his ability and that goes to the others

Kemmerer hasn't been at 100% the last couple weeks either, fwiw.
All the more reason to be impressed by Kemdawg. The guts and tenacity from this kid are unreal, he is going to be a leader on this team the next few years.

Kemerer is the perfect example of what kind of product TnT can put on the mat when they get top 10 recruits. The good news is in a couple years we'll have 5-6 just like him in the same lineup, and some even better, which is scary... scary good.

He's undersized. Time should cure that.

he can be a four-time finalists

Kemdawg has 1 loss against an absolute phenom. He is doing pretty darn good. Even Nolf has losses against another absolute phenom. Plus Kemdawg will improve.

Kem has improved drastically since high school. That being said, he was content with scrambling into stalemates to keep the match as close as he could. He knows he can't go head to head with Nolf but, who can, except for Imar - which may be iffy this year if they were in same class. All in all, will be rooting for him (rival HS) except when against Nolf.

P.S. Retherford was sick and I do like Sorenson as well.

Ah, yes. The ol' "sick" routine. We know it well. That explains everything.

I know someone who can go head to head with Nolf. Mark Hall. Beat him twice this summer. Wasn't close. But wait a sec. . . Didn't Hall just lose to . . . ? Someone, quick, remind me how the transitive property of arithmetic works?

By the way, I have it on good authority that Meyer was sniffling before his match.

I have it on good authority that those sniffles were caused by the Fire coming out of his eyes.

Love Kem-dog. He brings it every time. My only complaint is that as the season's progressed it seems like he's only going for his primary shot to the opponent's right leg. Would be nice to see a bit more variety. Of course you can't blame him sticking with his bread and butter against top-level competition.
