The Ausie crowd was sure for Kerber. I tend to think it wasn't because she was the underdog, as in individual sports fans like to see the stars win. So, I dunno...

This is the girls first major against one of the greatest and most accomplished champions of all time. US fans like underdogs, maybe Aussies do too?

I thought it was funny that after the match Kerber talked about how much of an inspiration Serena is to younger players. I wonder if Serena knows she is now considered old?

Serena is starting to lose some of her agility on the court.
She has too much weight.

but serena is not well liked and is seen as a thug, she did some sort of gangsta dance once

Say what?

That is one of the most bizarre, ridiculous things that I've ever heard.

People ALWAYS cheer for the underdog, everything else being equal.

Always.

Get used to it. This is how about 50% of the country thinks anymore. If you aren't cheering for, voting for, supporting the minority person, you must be a racist.

Thank you 'The Devil' for enlightening some of the low information folks about
Angelique Kerber. She's one nice looking Kraut lady, yeah.

Umm, no.

I'm more familiar with golf, but I thought tennis was the same way. The late CBS producer Fank Chirkinian said it a long time ago. In golf people root for the big stars instead of the journeyman, no-name underdog. He thought it odd, but that's the way is.

Watching the Singapore Open today, I felt like the Asian crowd was pulling at least equally for Jordan Spieth vs the Asian non-winner at the top of the leader board. People want to say they saw the great so-and-so win XYZ event. That's my take, anyway.

Again, not completely sure the same applies to tennis. If it doesn't, fine. But then I would be curious as to why golf and tennis are different.

Completely ridiculous, and not even a valid comparison. In golf you seldom have people competing head-to-head for anything.

But if you don't think Spieth versus some complete nobody for the US Open or something like that would get more people on the side of the underdog, you're an idiot.

And how do you even measure something like fan support at a golf tournament? People cheering less when someone sinks a put? Booing after a tee shot?

You're an idiot.

Was glad to see it. It's really hard to like Serena. Venus is OK, but Serena just grinds on me with her attitude.

Plus, I usually root for the hotter girl in women's tennis.

That's because Speith is boring. Let's use a better example and see if you stick to your da_coach guns on this.
Tiger Woods vs any of the following:
Chris DiMarco, Bob May, YE Yang, or Rocco Mediate.
Who do you think got the most fan support in the final rounds in those tournaments in which they played in the same pairing?

Ok, I is a idiot.

Have a nice day.
