Took my 3 year-old son to the practice today. Was the first time I'd ever been to an Iowa fb practice. Judging from many comments in recent years about how Kirk has checked out or doesn't care anymore, I expected to see him sitting in a corner of the stadium, feet kicked up, smoking a c-note wrapped stogie and reading the paper.
Instead I saw an extremely hands-on head coach hustling from group to group, watching intently, correcting mistakes, shouting instructions, getting after slackers (it's amazing what you hear when the crowd noise is removed).
Sure, I'm in the camp that believes this is a make or break year for Kirk, but to say he has checked out is foolish.
