Kinnick Seating Question

At the Minnesota game I’ll be going with 4 others (father, brother+his gf, and my gf who is a senior at Iowa). We have 4 tickets on the east side of the stadium and my girlfriend has her own student ticket, but would it be possible to squeeze 5 butts into 4 seats so we can all be together? I definitely do NOT want to impede space on any seats around us. Also, are tickets checked at non-student section entrances? I’ve been to at least 20 Kinnick games as a student and never actually focused on a seat, just open space to stand.

If it cannot work I’ll just join my gf in the student section, as I don't want to make any issues. Thanks, Go Hawks.

Eh, not really. I've always found space a little tight at Kinnick. But what stadium doesn't have tight seating? Perhaps your girlfriend can sit on your lap the whole game?

That's my only suggestion as you probably would cause trouble for your neighbors if you tried fitting an extra person in a row that will more than likely be full.

You will DEFINITELY impede space, either the people around you or yours, severely. If you are close to the aisles someone might "switch" with you so she can basically stand on the aisle.

5 adult butts don't fit in 4 seats so I'd say please don't do this to the people around you. There also might be permanent seat backs on either side of your 4 seats which would make it impossible. Saw that situation in the row in front of us last year...butt #5 had to go sit in his correct spot. I do commend you for asking in advance and not wanting to annoy those around you. Have fun! #GoHawks

Thanks all. In Evanston last weekend my row was being squeezed (until a few of the NW fans left early), so that's why I wanted to check. I don't want to be "that guy" so I won't.

Plus this is a night game in November. Fans will have several layers on taking up even more space. As someone mentioned earlier go to the student section. Might be the easiest way to sit with gf..... who we still don't have a pic yet....

I'm just gonna go ahead and say the GF can sit on my lap...I'll sort out the details upon first contact.

Yes. Don't be that guy. I have experienced this several times at kinnick and it is rude and disrupts not only your row but those in front and back of your row.

Everyone knows it's your group with too many and creates tensions for everyone and have seen people get awfully pissed

when I see people that dont look like they belong in our row or it is to full ask to see all there tickets if they refuse get a usher and get rid of the ones that dont belong. The seat spaces are small enough as it is.

Frequently there isn't enough room for 4 in four seats, much less 5, even with the widening of seats in....'08?

Even one extra can make a row virtually impossible. Don't ruin everyone else's game and possibly cause a scene. Not worth it. Besides, the student section is a blast. Even at age 52, I'd buy student tickets and stand all game if it was an option. Maybe I should go back to school....

The resizing of seats was done in 2006. At that time I bought seat backs for my two seats to ensure that I got my space. I know other people that would buy an extra seat (3 instead of 2) in order to give themselves some more room. As mentioned, at a night game in November people will be wearing a lot more clothing to the point where it gets tight putting 4 people into the space of 5 seats and you're talking about putting 5 people in 4 seats. Forget about it. Either let her be in the student section, or go be with her in the student section.

Back in the old days, before the seats were expanded, once November hit you had to start sitting at an angle in order to fit everyone in because everybody was a couple inches wider with their coats.

Before the seatbacks were an option, I can remember standing up to cheer during a November game, and then literally not being able to sit back down. My "seat" just disappeared.

As a former season ticket holder of 10 years ... please don't try to cram the extra body into the space. It really makes the experience for everyone around you that much less enjoyable ... Trust me, I understand all of you wanting to sit together ... Kinnick seats are crammed as it is ... and will be even more crammed because people will be wearing more layers of clothing. Have fun and Go Hawks!

Ha. That made me chuckle ... That is EXACTLY what would happen to me ... I would stand up to yell and cheer and turn around and it was like I was all of a sudden in the wrong row and my seat was simply swallowed up ...
