Anyone else think it’s time to return to a natural grass field inside Kinnick Stadium?
Keep the same paint schemes just with grass.

Does the new synthetic turf in Kinnick cause fewer knee injuries ect than natural grass? I dont know but the old astroturf was "sticky" and caused a whole lot of non-contact knee injuries. This new stuff with the rubbery pebbles seems to give good traction but not snag the foot.Anyone else think it’s time to return to a natural grass field inside Kinnick Stadium?

Maintenance costs of grass is higher but the NFL players union and players prefer to play on grass.Does the new synthetic turf in Kinnick cause fewer knee injuries ect than natural grass? Not sure if the upfront cost of synthetic turf is a factor in the longterm costs of real grass
If Nebr is switching then Iowa should definitely NOT change. Never follow whatever they do.Maintenance costs of grass is higher but the NFL players union and players prefer to play on grass.
Nebraska is switching to grass either next year or the year after.

I don't know if FieldTurf leads to more injuries than grass, but it's much, much better than the old AstroTurf in that regard. Long-term costs of grass maintenance will keep FieldTurf at Kinnick.Does the new synthetic turf in Kinnick cause fewer knee injuries ect than natural grass? Vikings at Rams playoff game in December of ‘75 or ‘76, I believe. ‘80’s tv actor “Hunter” aka Fred Dryer is in that muddy mess somewhere. Rams were favored. Vikes won the game.Miss games like this:

It’s really not very difficult. Heating coils and good drainage is all you need.Love grass. Jealous of all the fields in the southern US that have great looking real grass. I know Iowa's climate makes that waaaay more difficult.
Whatever Penn State does needs to be copied. The best grass field I've seen. It’s really not very difficult. Heating coils and good drainage is all you need.
Northwestern? Come up with a better story than that. Iowa beat a lot of good teams at home from 1989-2005.I stole a patch of Kinnick grass after the Northwestern game my senior year. Planted it at my parents. Worked out well
I took some, too. It died.I stole a patch of Kinnick grass after the Northwestern game my senior year. Planted it at my parents. Worked out well

Love it. I wonder why the Chicago Bears can't get it right. It’s really not very difficult. Heating coils and good drainage is all you need.
Fun fact: I rode my bike on Nebber’s field & did a burnout on their N.Maintenance costs of grass is higher but the NFL players union and players prefer to play on grass.
