Let Sapp and Gesell rotate and put Uhl at the 2. Uhl is shooting threes at almost the 50% mark, I believe he handles the ball or at least the dribble better than Jok or Uthoff and would create defensive mis-matches at that position. He would set some great screens and work with Woody well. It would also make our zone defense more formidable.

Have you watched Uhl lately?

Need Uhl to back up Woody. And, I'm pretty happy with Sapp and Gesell starting at guard. imo

Careful I was crushed for this a few weeks ago :)

Ever since Uhl started playing "me" ball, I'm not a fan. He lacks the skill set and it ruins any chance Iowa has at running an offense. I know many here believe Fran told him to be more aggressive, but what he's doing cannot possibly be what Fran meant if he indeed said that.

Keep the rotation as is. Its fine.

Uhl needs to give Woody a break as does Baer for Utoff and Wagner for Jok. The whole thing is Clemmons or Gessell need a break as well. I say start both of them, and then first Media TO get one out and give them a breather, so they can spell each other.

Also wouldn't mind seeing one of the young freshman get a 1-2min of time. They can't cause that much damage.

I agree that Uhl handles the ball well and that he moves quickly for his size, but he's more important this year backing up Woody. Next year, who knows what Fran will do, but Jok will be the 2.

I think you have things a bit mixed up here, but I get what you are saying. At some point Ellingson needs to get his act together and start playing at a high level. I really believe he is the key to this team.

Yeah I was just saying those 3 off the bench are needed to show up. I know Fran doesn't have one guy sub for the other each game. But I agree Ellingson needs to start knocking some shots and playing at a higher level. He has shown he can make the 3 ball, I just think he rushes his shot too much. When he catches and is set, he makes most of them. The problem is he is either leaning into or falling away from his shot.

Gessell & Clemmons cannot play 35+ minutes a game, need to get them some rest.

Interesting Uhl stat - his 3pt% is within 10% of his FT% - .479 to .580. For someone who actually shoots a fair amount of both, I don't believe I've ever seen that before.

It's the second time I've seen it recently and I wish I could remember the other guys name and team he was on. A three point specialist that rarely ever shot a free throw and his numbers were pretty similar from both.

In Uhl's case, and this is just my opinion, he gets by on natural athleticism much more than skill or any lifelong repetition or coaching. His outside shot is ugly, but he makes it work. Not surprising he's all over the map as too results. Low FT%, can drive like a guard but has no real sense yet of how to finish if it isn't a slam dunk. Good instincts rebounding but doesn't know how to box out, quick hands on defense but no technique.

By the way...this is describing day one freshman Uhl and everything is improving. He is another Peter Jok where his best game is ahead of him and it will be an eye catching game when developed.
