KOK has some interesting things to say about Nate and Kirk.

I like Stanley. he gets rattled sometimes. I like the guy. hope he does good in the bowl. he is not joe montana or frank reich, he's Stanley. when kok said they are all different, hard to compare, that was the truth.

He really gets going in this interview.

How dare ANYONE say anything nice about Nate or Kirk!

WE, the anonymous posters of Hawkeye Report, are the experts here! NOT any coach! Not any analyst who calls Kirk a Hall of Famer. NOT any NFL scout, who thinks Nate has 1st round draft pick talent. They're IDIOTS!!!

WE all know both Nate & Kirk are garbage! WE know what the heck we are talking about!! No one else!!

Again,

Thoughts?

We as fans forget all the intricacies & what truly matters. Kirk is a master at teaching life.

That being said, imagine the climate if you flip three 7-8 win seasons to three 9 - 10 win seasons. Guy would have a statue at Iowa, it's that dang close. The harsh reality of CFB & what have you done for me lately. Always pulling for this program no matter what the circumstance.

I always find inspiration listening to the men who are Iowa football. Go Hawks!

Kind of took it like he was there to defend Kirk & put things into perspective when the chatter gets going, whether warranted or not.

Love KOK, worked for the guy. He kind of goes off on a tangent and it makes me laugh.

Obviously the coaching staff is using the new language quite a bit since we heard it from Doyle and KOK. Bowl game 16 of last 18 years and Jan bowl 11 times. My question is, how many of those 11 are because of the IOWA fan base? There is definitely a few, including this year, where IOWA doesn’t exactly deserve to play in a Jan 1 bowl but Iowa gets picked because of their fanbase and the economic side of things.

Kirk Ferentz has taken the Hawkeyes to 16 Bowl games
and 11 of those have been on January 1. To me that will
accent the leadership of Coach Kirk and his program.
KF's bowl game record is 7-8, tell me again why you're doing a happy dance ?

KF's bowl game record is 7-8, tell me again why you're doing a happy dance ?
They could do better, but could do a whole lot worse. Just look to the other in-state team as an example. Many people aren’t doing the happy dance because of the bowl record or 8-5 average seasons. They’re doing the happy dance because it’s not 4-8 average with like 4 bowl wins in school history. People can be happy yet want more, those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

KF, overall, has done a solid job at Iowa. The thing is, as a few have suggested, his record could be much better, with this year as a prime example. No real excuse for not being 12-0, 10-2 at the very worst. Instead, here they are, 8-4, with all-Big Ten and All-Americans on both sides of the ball.

Stanley, same thing. He's an adequate QB, but he has failed in almost every key situation in almost every key game. He's been OK overall, but has had the opportunity to be so much better.

And yes, absolutely yes to the fact that Iowa fans should get most of the credit for many of Iowa's Jan. 1 bowl appearances. Iowa is the only unranked team to be playing on that date this year, and it's because of Hawkeye fans far more than it is the 8-4 football team.

So sure, as the apologists point out ad infinitum, at least we're not Kansas or Rutgers, but that seems like a loser's mentality. Instead, I wonder why Iowa isn't Wisconsin or, yes, Northwestern.

Iowa was clearly the best team in the West Division this year, so why weren't the Hawkeyes playing for the Big Ten title? QB play? Coaching? Bad luck in every tough game?

This season was an opportunity lost, and there's really no way around it. Surely KOK, KF, Stanley, and everyone else realizes that. Let's hope the Hawkeyes can put everything together for once this season and put a knot on Mississippi State's head while drowning out the cowbells and the sickening "SEC" chants.

Do some investigating on bowl records and come back.

That’s actually pretty good. Iowa was chosen higher than they should have been in many of these games due to having fans that travel.

I am starting to think Iowa might have to have a wr come out of nowhere and play lights out and catch three td passes. For the win. Somebody like Brandon Smith
We have our eyes on hockenson and this guy comes out of nowhere

KF's bowl game record is 7-8, tell me again why you're doing a happy dance ?
Would you rather be ISU, and have NEVER played in a significant bowl game in the programs history? Yes, we would all like to have a few more W's on that ledger. Truth be told however, because of the BIG's stature, there were many of those years where Iowa, and numerous other BIG schools were elevated up in the bowl pecking order, and probably punching above their weight class for that year. By the way, the Hawks actually won several of those games where they were HEAVY underdogs. LSU in the Cap 1 bowl, Georgia Tech in the Orange, and Mizzou in the Insight bowl come to mind.......

We have different definitions of “heavy underdog.” I wouldn’t consider being an underdog by less than a TD heavy in any situation. Iowa has only been an underdog by more than a TD in a bowl game 3 times under KF.
