Kolby Franklin at Matmen Open

But they’re wrestling. In IC. After Midlands was shut down.
yes and of their two options, they are wrestling at the far inferior tournament. i don't understand the confusion. i get why it turned out this way, but it would be better if they were at the other tournament.

The paying fans need something to look forward to.
so let the starters get some practice matches in against back ups. send the youngsters to the tournament that will make them better long term.

i get the logistics are difficult and they did what they thought was right in the moment, but it didn't work out well unfortunately. hopefully, the tourney becomes something good in the future to make up for it.

If the starters were not going to the Midlands, for whatever the reason, they weren't going to go in this one. Pitch count maybe? But if they want to build this tournament into something, they have to give a little in return. One weekend against lesser competition just doesn't matter when they are constantly going against high level wrestlers in the room. There will be plenty of competitions between now and when they are needed next year.

Iowa posted 15 entries for the Hawkeye Open; see other thread started by Todd Conner.

It will be a very good event, I like that they (Eustice and Schamberger) jump started it this year. As for those Hawkeyes not entered, Big Ten dual season starts 5 days later.

i get it. it's just a huge bummer. 2 years in a row of not getting to see the talented freshmen get a crack at a big tournament and top competition.

it's wild to think how unbattle-tested kennedy will be after 2 years in the program, through no fault of his own. the only good opponent he'll have seen at his real weight class is his teammate. at least ayala got a shot at mckee.

js8793 I opened your content to see what you were saying and I gotta say, whatever you're doing it's still not working.

We may luck out and get to see Kolby take on Christian Carroll at the Mat Men. That would be an EPIC battle!

Carroll is wrestling 197lbs?

**sigh** Carroll is wrestling with the Big Boys. . . . :( It'll still be awesome to watch them both compete with the "big guys".

Jump on in boyz, the water is just fine....

hamiti is a really good looking freshman for wisconsin. might be a dark horse to watch at 165. would be poetic if he took out wick at some point.

Franklin loses 6-0 to Urbas in the bloodround. Looks like scoreless 1st, Franklin chose down and was turned for 4 in the 2nd, Urbas with an escape in 3rd.

bumping this to note he just destroyed returning aa hartman. 165 is going to be sick for the next several years with all the young talent. o’toole, griffith, kharchla, hamiti, kennedy, facundo, ramirez, etc…. imagine if carr moves up too. just placing this year will be a war.
