Seems like sure way to basically kill your station's news viewership and handing viewers over to KCRG and KGAN.

I haven't been tuned into ratings for awhile but KWWL was generally #1 in the market, can't see that not taking a hit, and no clue how they will do severe weather.

Curious if the Weather Channel will have to hire staff considering they are rolling this out in 20 markets nation wide.

KWWL is the only one of the three based in Waterloo. I expect they'll still retain a following for news and sports. But it's still a crazy move.

Corporate greed over actual service to the local customers. It's the way of the world. I blame Bonespurs

This one actually falls on Bill Clinton for the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which lead to massive media consolidation. You could even make an argument blaming Fox News on Bill Clinton.

I agree, my wife went to CF and my in-laws didn't even comprehend their was other local newscasts until I started working at KGAN...lol

People are loyal in their viewing habits, but the biggest error a station can make is to give their viewers a reason to check out one of the other stations, and KWWL is doing that.
