Kylie Feuerbach to Iowa?

Yup. One coach is declining and the other is on the rise.

And Bluder didn't take the program over from Stringer. She had some issues to overcome when she got the program.
That's fair....although it might be a little quick to count out Fennelly. He had a young team this season, too.

As for the relative situation the two coaches inherited, if you truly think they were even remotely comparable, you aren't well informed. There were problems under Lee, but Iowa was a strong program with a good national reputation and was drawing good crowds.

The programs were in totally different positions. The coach before Fennelly was 18-63. Bluder took over from a 84-60 coach. There were some issues at Iowa but nowhere near what Fennelly inherited.

You could say Lisa took over a mess. Angie Lee inherited the nation's best recruiting class and four years later had fallen to 9-18. She was also pushing a very aggressive gay agenda that offended players, parents and donors. Angie also had really divided the locker room by trying to get players to support her when the termination talk started. The conflict spilled over into the management of the athletic department. I'll give Bowlsby credit for something-good political infighter. He somehow got the authority to fire the Women's AD-his purported peer who would not fire Lee, and then the authority to fire Lee.

That's what Lisa walked into. Lisa has done a tremendous job at Iowa. The Iowa girls program has the strong headwinds against it like the boys, but the girl's are getting a tremendous amount of good publicity and this transfer is further example of the increased profile. The girls will certainly open the season highly ranked.

I don't think the Clones had much of a scoring threat from the post, allowing teams to put more defensive attention on the guards. With Cizano, am hoping Kylie's shooting percentage will improve.

I read that it's Al F. the shot putter she's related to, not Kerry F. the Iowa FB player from the Commings era.

just read an article this morning.... interview with Caitlyn Clark.... apparently Bluder has a couple 6’3” inch freshmen coming in too that should be good additions..... Iowa women should be ranked top ten start of next season....There’s a lot to be excited about

Cyclone fans seem reasonably high on her despite the poor shooting numbers. What are her strengths as a player?

Maybe those new players will help. They probably will. Iowa's ceiling is capped a bit with the current 5 starters. Will be a top 15-20 team but seems well short of the Maryland/UConn teams. Of course, most everyone is short of those teams other than those teams. But not sure how Iowa gets markedly better defensively without an influx of athleticism and length. They just couldn't stay in front of anyone. Have to at least be passable on defense if you want to win conference titles and go to a Final 4, as both the men and women found out this year.

As an Iowa fan, the best part of this is the transfer FROM ISU to Iowa.

Just another way to remind lil bro that they're still lil bro.

There's an 18 page thread on CF about the young lady. The transfer is really a kick in the nuts to Clone fans.

I don't think Fennelly driving kids away will cost him his job, but it might be enough to make highly sought after kids go elsewhere. What I saw in the ISU game I watched was a HC that has a tendency to "fly off the handle" when the team struggles in big games. His choke job at the end of the A&M game was epic.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of shots to go around up at ISU, once the Joens sisters get theirs.

Kylie’s dad, Steve, played on a really good high school team from Preston, Iowa, back in the day. Preston is near Maquoketa, in Eastern Iowa. Yes, they were 1A, but a very good team and Steve was the spark plug that made it all happen. Naturally, I hated that guy, because his team whipped my Bellevue team pretty good. Steve’s uncle, Gary Feuerbach was our coach! Steve didn’t let up on us, either. Rat bastard!

The shocking thing about Steve was that he would often win the discus and shot at high school meets. Skinny point guard out-throwing all of the big boys. Apparently uncle Al may have given him some coaching that the rest of the kids had no access to.

Mitchll hits the drive for 400 yards, drops a 9 iron pin high, 1 putts for the Eagle! That is finding and stating the essential element of the transfer for the Clowns.

From a guy who would know on CF:

While at the All Iowa Attack girls AAU tournament this past weekend in Iowa City, the Kylie Feuerbach story was a big topic. Nothing earth-shattering about the reasons, although I will not get into some specifics passed on by several parents.
Some basics I heard:
1. She was attracted to Bluder's up-tempo offensive system, that she could use her skills that she has worked so hard to acquire, and felt ISU's offense was not as aggressive as advertised during her recruitment.
2. Has a strong friendship with Clark from pre-college days and she wanted to play with her.
3. Felt the team culture at Iowa was positive, fun and more "mistake friendly."

Honestly I think her family is huge ISU fans and I think that influenced her decision to go to ISU. Based on what people have been saying that know more about WBB than me are saying I think Iowa is honestly just a better fit for her. I think she'll be a great Hawk and I'm glad she's going to be where she feels most comfortable.

I've been following the thread. The posters on their women's basketball forum are capable of having a reasonable discussion.

Sounds like a nice add for the program but those shooting %s aren't too impressive. Her FG% is .10+ worse than the entire IOWA roster (except for 2 players who road the pine most of the year). Same with FT %.

36% FG
27% from 3
64% from FT Line
I think those shooting percentages are not indicative of what she is capable of but show that she was not comfortable in her situation there and explains why she decided to leave. All indications lead me to believe she will do better at Iowa.

I believe that Kylie’s relationship with Caitlin and perhaps others on the Iowa roster, is due to her affiliation will the AIA program. She has no doubt played together with at least some of the current Hawkeye AIA alumni. I think that has to be a positive.

Take a look at her HS videos and you will understand why Bluder welcomes her with open arms.

So the girls return every player of consequence to the Sweet 16 run, including the best point guard in the nation, and is adding three four star top 100 players to the roster, including Iowa's next dominating post player.

Doesn't that sound like a top ten team?
