Ladji, Josh, Cooper, Pryce, Owen, Brock & Riley have entered the portal now that the 30 day transfer window is open. Who's joining them?

Have to assume Fran is off to Indianapolis to watch his youngest son at Butler next year. Will he be a part of the coaching staff in some capacity? If so, do any players follow him there to Butler if he is on staff.

These young men have a tough decision ahead of them. If they made their decision prior to the end of the season, then I don’t care too much about them as they already quit. But the ones who haven’t are now going to have to figure out what’s best for them.

I think it's pretty clear that the players like Fran a lot more than the fans do. With him gone, every player will assess their opportunities.

That said, I think Freeman and Dix are going to have a chance to get some bigger money elsewhere. Harding may follow Freeman, but of course there has to be an opening.

The rest of them are likely going to re-boot their recruitment out of HS. If the Hawks land the right guy, staying in IC might sound pretty good. The sooner the new guy gets here the better.

No, most need to leave if we want to climb out of the cellar of the conference. I’d be fine with a complete roster turnover at this point. Similar to what IU did in football last year.
Much more talent on this roster than you imply, especially with the incomers.

Losing Freeman is already a huge blow

Biggest issue with portal is tampering. Wonder how much freeman has been hearing from other schools. Think we all saw the writing on the wall when he shut it down. Meantime see Payton play through wist and shoulder issues. Lipsey for isu hairline fracture on his thumb of shooting hand.

Funny how Kirk has been one of the few D1
Coaches to screw up when he mentioned recruiting Cade to actually get punished for tampering and that was just jumping the gun by a few days not even speaking to him at Michigan.

Be interesting to hear about incoming recruits and even Miami transfer we got mid season. Why goetz hopefully has someone in line to recruit/retain guys then able to go to work filling out the roster.

He didn't want to be here anymore, and it was obvious even before Fran was dismissed. Anytime you have a player whose heart is not with the program, it's actually a detriment to the team to have him there. it affects team chemistry. This will be addition-by-subtractionn in the end.

Owen seemed to give up on the season and Iowa a while ago, so no surprise. He has talent, but I think he lacks the toughness to become a really good player. He definitely did NOT step up his play from his freshman year, as many expected, and that was a big part of why Iowa wasn't better, even before the injury.

I imagine most of the team will enter the portal, but will wait for a new coach to be named before making a final decision on transferring. The new coach will need to recruit back the players he wants.

Hopefully its Devries.

Hopefully we have the NIL to keep Dix. Owen is probably gone. :(

Let's say it is true, his players absolutely loved Fran---it didn't translate into exceptional performance on the court and on the recruiting trail, didn't bring in exceptional talent. Fran was friends with Fredrick family. Fran came up with a scholarship for CJ who was a 2G when we absolutely needed a PG. When a better opportunity opened up at Kentucky, the Fredrick's stuck a knife in Fran's back.

I don't think Portal even matters, its just merely a formality. The players pretty much go wherever they want, wherever they want for the best situation and their representatives/agents are talking to other teams even as the season is being played.

Dix apparently has some worries at home---best of luck to him wherever he ends up. Pryce is Iowa kid/brother was here 4 year, he'll stay and I think the new coach would want him. Koch is legacy, similar situation. Rest seem like Free agents and none of them have a lot of NIL value.

there's rumors out there that the Kansas deal has been sealed for a while now

what a joke this has all become

are we supposed to act surprised when Owen announces he's transferred to KU?

It will be as surprising when CJF entered the portal and ended up at UK. Love how his uncle said looking at multiple schools as if we didn’t know then waited few days before announcing the obvious.

Feels a little insincere to suggest it was because of the coaching change. His announcement comes less than 24 hours after Fran was fired - and he entered the portal with a “no contact” designation. It seems he’s known where he was going to go for awhile.
