I called Wolfe clinic yesterday to discuss lasik eye surgery and they said it would cost $2,200 per eye. I think that is quite steep and wondering if anyone knows of a good cheaper alternative?

I see better now than I did with contacts which were about -6.5. No side effects.
I am myopic. Used to be easily corrected with contacts or glasses for distance and I just took them off to read. But in recent years I've developed astigmatism which really disrupts reading even with correction - but that requires wearing glasses when I read, which I hate.

Sorry for the long-winded leadup to the question, but how is Lasik on astigmatism?

Another question. Are you young? As I age, I'm losing accommodation (the ability to change focus from near to far). I worry that Lasik would make my vision better for one distance, but ONLY one distance - and might even be worse at the other end of the range. Any thoughts on that?

Probably questions to ask the professionals. You'll still need reading glasses (if you don't need them now, you'll still need them further down the road). Lasik usually corrects astigmatism, though if it's severe, you may need an additional Lasik visit to fine tune things. This would of course cost more.

That's where I went. I got about an 800 dollar discount because of my insurance through work. Dr Goddard was awesome. The staff was also great. I had it done almost a year ago and it was the best money I ever spent. I was in the surgical room for 15 minutes max. Walked out the door and could read license plates on cars in front of us. I highly recommend Wolfe.

I have an astigmatism. Had the surgery at 46. The main issue is corneal thickness and the vast majority of people have no issues with this. If your cornea is too thin they won't even try the surgery. My up close vision isn't good anymore, but it was actually better slightly after the surgery. Again, the staff at Wolfe are so confident in what they do. I wasn't even that nervous going in. Their only real concern is infection which is why they start you on drops a few days ahead of time.

I paid $3800 total. If flex spending still allows you to save for LASIK then that is the best way to fund the procedure.
