Tired legs is an excuse. Sorry but all these teams play the same # of games and go through the same practice routines and what not. If they are tired, they will now have almost a week off before their first game. Several teams will only have 4-5 days.
Where does Joe have Iowa seeded? I see Iowa's #'s all look good still (27RPI, 19 KenPom) so even after losing to Illinois their numbers are okay. Now the eye test will tell a different story. Im thinking we are destined for the 8/9 match-up.

I am so sick and tired of hearing the tired legs excuse. What a bunch of hogwash.
Committee goes by the numbers/data....really don't see us going lower than 7. Are we a 7 at this point...probably not. The season the Hawks put together certainly justifies a 7 though.
CBS brackets has Iowa as a 7 against Cincy.
That looks like a loser on paper for the Hawks. Then again, hard to find a matchup that would give anyone confidence right now.

At this point, a 6 is ideal. Maybe they can catch lightning in a bottle somehow.
That would be a terrible matchup for Iowa. I watched Cincinnati and ISU earlier in the year, and that Cincinnati team is physical. Iowa would wilt against them and get frustrated since we are so soft.
8/9, is this your first year following the brackets? Iowa won't be lower than 7 seed, likely a 6 seed. Our recent slide sucks, but other teams that have been 6 seeds also lost yesterday. Wisconsin, and Texas come to mind. Current 7 seeds are Dayton, Seton Hall, Pitt, and Providence. Go look at their resumes. The eight seeds resumes are even worse. This board is bad enough with the influx of idiots bashing everything, but at least go check out a bracket so you know what you're talking about.
Did you not read my post? I said our numbers look good and our wins are pretty darn good as well, as long as PU and MSU keep winning. Would of helped if FSU, Marquette, and WSU could of won, but oh well. I just think w/our current slide that the committee will penalize us for that. I realize in the past there have been examples, but as we all know, no committee does the same thing twice. Every year there is something different. Some committees say last 10 plays a factor, the next year is Out of Conference scheduling, then the next year its who did you beat, and blah blah blah.
If we get a 6 seed great, but I am not holding my breath. I think we will be at best is a 7 seed. I just think our eye test and our late season collapse will have us in the 8/9 game. My opinion, if you don't agree with it, there is an "ignore" button you can push.
Any physical team is a bad matchup, our boys wilt under that type of D.
You're making an assumption using 30% of the data available to you. My point stands, look around the country. 8/9 seed? You're trying too hard to be negative.
While yes we have the "resume" but you can't tell me 2014 we went from being a lock to the last 4 in? what happened that year? Why did we get penalized for our late season slump? We were in the top 15 in the country and then lost 8 of 9 down the stretch. We were in lock status and then we fell off. How did that happen, go from lock status to last 4 in?

In 2014 Iowa's OOC schedule was garbage. That is why that collapse put them firmly on the bubble. This year Iowa's OOC schedule is very good and Iowa has too many good wins to drop below the 6 line IMO.
Palm has them at a 7 right now. Who knows what #7 they are (1-4). Iowa has to cheer for MSU, Purdue, Dayton today to win their games. Get the RPI moving up hopefully. Even a Michigan Win would help them out.
This season isn't comparable to that season, that's why. The early part of the season isn't comparable. We have two wins over the #2 team in the country, 2 more over purdue, 2 over Michigan, and Wichita state. We only have 3 losses to teams not going to make the tourney, and if OSU wins today, that'll go to 2. I'm not happy the way the season is unfolding either, but man, try to do some homework before posting this crap, non-stop on the board. You've said this in several threads, give it a rest, it's wrong.
Joey Brackets has them on the 6 line with a rematch against Gonzaga in Denver in the Midwest Region so if they can pull it together they could play in Chicago. Utah is the 3 seed standing in their way.

Agree with this. Illinois and PSU are bad. OSU and Wisky are nothing special.

And every other analyst disagrees with Palm. Why would you even use Palm that's a serious question? Our RPI, etc, isn't going to change hardly at all at this point. Cheer against Seton Hall, Providence and Dayton. They all could possibly jump us at this point, otherwise nobody else currently behind us, is left to play and can jump us. Texas, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, USC, Colorado, Butler, St Joes, VCU, and Pittsburgh all lost. All of them! We sucked, I get it, but we aren't going to drop 3 seeds from yesterday, because we lost one game.
It really doesn't matter at this point what seed we get and who we get matched up against. Some lucky "underdog" is going to get us and they're going to be favored and elated.
Agreed! What conference was Northwestern State? Hopefully we do not get a team from that conference.
Sadly, this is probably correct. You know every analyst out there is going to be picking us to get beat, hope we are the team that every doubted and makes a run. There seems to be one of those every year.
Absolutely crazy that the first round of the tourney is in Iowa for the first time in history, all 3 in-state schools will make the dance, and none of them will get a chance to play at home.
I kinda wish the committee would just give the people what they want, an Iowa/Iona first round matchup.
Uh oh..... Lunardi has us in a first round matchup against Gonzaga.
About 2 weeks ago I was wishing for this match-up. Now not so sure. Gonzaga's guards have improved and are playing better. They still have Wiltjer & Sabonis who against our starting 5 are nightmares to defend. If the Zags guards play at the high level, we are screwed.
I'm a firm believer the 6 is better than a 5.. That being said, it doesn't matter if they're playing like this!
