Just got off the phone with Iowa commit Cedrick Lattimore to get an update on his official visit this weekend.

Lattimore said he had a really good time, especially hanging out with the players. His host was Desmond King, who he already knows really well of course, and then he also had a chance to spend some time with Greg Mabin and Jaleel Johnson as well.

In talking with the coaches, he said both Kirk Ferentz and Reese Morgan told him they want him to come in and play some as a true freshman this fall. They're going to start him outside at defensive end, but eventually could see him playing both DE and DT as he gets bigger. Right now, Lattimore said he's 6-4, 260 lbs.

As for more good news, Lattimore said his friend
Alaric Jackson is really enjoying his time in Iowa City as well and the Hawkeyes are looking pretty good for him. I think you can expect more good news coming out of Detroit was how Lattimore put it.

I asked Lattimore a little bit about having teammate
Chauncey Golston and potentially Alaric Jackson, plus Desmond King, at Iowa and if that helps him as he gets ready to move out there this summer and he said it definitely does. He knows he'll make some new friends at Iowa, but coming in, it really helps to have some people back home that he can relate to and really thinks it will help him make the transition.

Up next for Lattimore and Golston is an all-star game, the International Bowl, which they leave for on Tuesday. They will be playing for the USA Under-19 National Team going up against Canada's Under-19 Team on January 31st at Cowboys Stadium.

Then, thhe'll get back home on February 1 and sign on February 3.
