LeBron James opt out his final year of his contract ?

Basically, all he's going to do is restructure and extend. Yeah, he's opting out, but it's the same effect. He'll be signed in a manner that gives him more money long term, but more flexibility for the Cavs.

It's hilarious seeing some of the reactions to this on social media. The Lebron hate stretches far and wide.

I'm not a LeBron "fan", but I've never gotten the hate. He made a mistake with "The Decision", recognized it, owned up to it and apologized for it. He's really done nothing else controversial, is as likable as any other NBA player, has played better basketball than anyone in the NBA for the last 10-12 years and took the freaking Knicks and a no-name Aussie to the Finals this year. I have no idea how that can draw the ire it does.

I'll say this, I'd bet money most of the hate is from MJ fanboys. Most likely people that don't remember, or never knew, the knock on MJ his first 7 years was that he couldn't win and couldn't lead a team to the Finals and ignore that he physically and mentally abuse his teammates in the desire to win.

Nailed it. MJ fanboys. LeBron seems like a stand up guy.

I love all the memes that get posted on FB and Twitter blasting Lebron's finals record (as if it belongs only to him), while completely ignoring that Jordan needed Pippen/Grant and Pippen/Rodman, and Kobe needed Shaq.

If that Cavs team stays healthy, they win it going away.
