Alright boyz, help me settle a debate I'm having with friends and coworkers. In a 400m sprint who wins?

Not a lot of variables at play but say both athletes are at their prime.

I've pick L. James as he is genetically superior (even tho he's black). I think once at top speed after 100-150 meters he is much faster than faggy boy Ronaldo.

Probably Ronaldo, he's more used to sprinting long distances and I feel it's a bit racist of me to say that the black guy wins without proof.

See, Prime can be PC.

No, he really isn't. Soccer players- Ronaldo included don't "sprint" long distances frequently. They certainly jog, but not sprint.

At top speed I have to believe James is faster.

Let me guess, you think McGregor could beat Floyd at boxing.

Lebron can run fast. I wouldn't bet against him. His stride along makes me think he could win.

So you link an article linking the 100 meter va the 400. Good work.

For the record, I think Ronaldo wins the 100.
Read further. Plus, being huge means the longer the race, the worse you do. If you think Ronaldo beats him in the 100, then he destroys him in the 400. He'd probably win by 60 meters or more.

Is that why wilt chamberlain ran a 49 second 400??? James in the 100 and 200, his strides are long and he can get up and move.. 400 his endurance would lose him.

I read the article and it doesn't prove anything other than Ronaldo is fast. Which again I believe he wins in the 100,200m.

I think once lebron opens up the stride it's game over.

Lol, I never said it proved anything. I'm not talking about height, 250 lbs is a lot.

This is all crazy. Barkley would smoke them both.

Not a lot of 6'8", 250 pound quarter milers out there.
If Ronaldo sat on is hip on the backstretch, he'd blow past him the last 150 meters. James would try to keep up, but the last 40 meters, he would look like he's running in wet cement.

I thought I read renaldo ran a 4.3 40. I'd put my money on the skinny guy who can run a 4.3 40.

How long is a bball court? LeBron is bent over hands on his knees after he sprints 2/3 of that distance.

Lebron James is a freak of nature. His combination of speed, quickness, size, strength, agility, coordination, etc. makes him one of the best overall athletes the human species has yet produced. He could have likely been world class at a number of sports had he focused on them instead of basketball (football, hockey and soccer come immediately to mind). That said, I don't see how he beats Ronaldo in a foot race. Pure foot speed is the one thing that Ronaldo would have over him. Ronaldo is one of the fastest athletes in the world outside of track and field. He is always on any list of the fastest soccer players in the world, and this is a sport played by the vast majority of the world's sport playing population. As much as I like Lebron and think he is a athletic freak of nature, I just don't see this as much of a contest.

Can't make an informed decision because I don't know who this Ronaldo guy is.

That's a really odd way to ask for pics, bro.

He wants to compare him to his nephew in law.

Ronaldo easily. . . soccer has a lot more long sprinting in it then basketball and Ronaldo is one of the fastest soccer players out there.

You are looking at 2 things, pure speed and endurance to go 400 meters. Both of those things are far more common to soccer then they are to basketball.

Maybe because of his stride Lebron could win a 100M race. But the full 400 meters. . . my money is on Ronaldo.

Ok I have the definitive answer. Google Lebron James Speed and google Ronaldo speed.

Here are the results:

"LeBron's top speed was measured at over 20 miles per hour"

"Ronaldo tops their list, having been clocked going as fast at 10.9 meters per second, or 24.4 miles per hour."

Ronaldo no contest.

Man, who was bored enough to think up this scenario and then debate it. Ronaldo wins this easily.

I would consider myself a LeBron fan, but there is no way he wins a 400m against Ronaldo. At least not at 6'8 250. That is a LOT of mass to move. Ronaldo is right about the same size as top 400m runners, LBJ is 6 inches taller and 70 lbs heavier. That mass makes a difference.
