Gable didnt have to worry about 100 mid major teams who could beat his team, teams like James Madison, Princeton, Valpo, Butler that can line up 8 really good players with a very good coach and beat top seeds like we see all the time in the Men's Bball tourney

I would say maybe time for a change because he cant hardly get a win in the Ncaa tourney even with some very good teams. I would say a Natty is too much of a reason to replace a coach but not sweet 16s for a start, not elite eights, and a final four would be great as it has been over 40 years since Lute took us to the final weekend.

Ok, I'll bite.

Simply making the NCAA tournament doesn't really move the needle for me these days. I'd like to see an Iowa team actually DO something once they get there.

As for what I'm feeling today... I'd much rather see Iowa get into the NCAA tournament than end up in the NIT (Yuck). Given where they were a few weeks ago.. Totally off the radar.. Getting to the dance would be a good accomplishment and I'm rooting for them to do it.

Does it change my feelings at the macro level? Nope. Fran has won, I think, just 2 NCAA games since 2016 and getting into the bubble mix all of the sudden doesn't mean I've forgotten that. As of now, this team is probably still NIT bound. Work to do yet. Got beat Illinois and probably win a game, maybe two, in the BTT.

I need to see more. This year was supposed to be a down year, I guess.. Next year, no excuses.

Really they’ve had two NCAA tournament wins since 2019, or four NCAA tournaments ago. But “since 2016” looks better for the narrative I guess.

If you really want to put things in perspective though, Iowa had ONE NCAA Tournament win in the 15 seasons between 1999-00 to 2013-14. Two wins in four seasons doesn’t sound too bad.
