A trove of text messages between members of Congress and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows reveal alarming new details about the wide-ranging plot to overturn Donald Trump's election loss, but a reporter who broke the news said there's likely even more evidence that hasn't been shaken loose.

Talking Points Memo obtained more than 2,300 messages that Meadows turned over to the House select committee, and reporter Hunter Walker told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" the communications show the White House was engaged with officials at all levels of government, along with outside activists and Republican fundraisers, to overrule the will of the voters.

"We're focused on members of Congress yesterday, but Meadows was engaging with people in local government, with right-wing activists, members of Congress, senators, House members," Walker said. "This was a broad plot at every level of government and really every level of the Republican Party. We see dark-money groups, we see sort of street-level activists like Amy Kremer, and they were all, you know, working together on various plans to overturn the election."

"The other big thing I point out here, and I think it's the most frightening thing about this message cache, is this is the tip of the iceberg," Walker continued. "There are hints in the messages that this log that Meadows provided to the select committee is incomplete, particularly in his exchanges with [Rep.] Scott Perry, he talks about moving over to Signal, an encrypted messaging app, and discussions that pop up out of nowhere and blatantly lack content."

"I'll break a little bit of news on 'Morning Joe' this morning," he added. "I'm becoming aware of multiple instances that should be in the log if it was complete that are not there. What we're seeing, you know, is a broad plot, particularly involving members of congress, deranged conspiracy theories, questionable legal logic and blatant authoritarianism, and that's just the tip of the iceberg."

You're still chanting lock her up and it been almost SEVEN years, relax Francis.

The whole world knows the right wing opinion media has distracted you.

Drag shows are yet another example of how easy it is to distract wayward minds.
You just attempted to say I was distracted by bringing in 2 completely irrelevant topics.

That's a fairly impressive level of cheesedickery.

What do you think the congressional committee is supposed to be doing that they aren't?
Showing proof of actual crimes committed by Donald Trump. The best case they have presented was negligence during the time he watched and didn't respond. In a real court he is glong to to show that took about an hour and you don't charge someone for negligence during chaos within an hour. It's a constant game of "but wait, there's more" just like this article. If you like the story, go for it.

2 years later, not shit has been done. Salon.com
El oh El
Well their job at this point is to send recommendations of charges and all of that which they’re going to start doing Monday I believe, we’ll see if the doj agrees with them on anything. And it’s been since July 2021 that the committee formed so a little less than one year 5 months if we want to get a bit more precise about it.

You keep showing how uninformed you are. The right wing media has downplayed the hearings so you downplay the hearings.

It's more than an hour long story, as if.

They're making criminal referrals to the justice department. That's what they're supposed to do. He'll likely be included.

You're thinking like an"armchair average Joe" in regards to things that are not in your wheelhouse.

Investigating Hunter Biden is a waste of time and resources. Who TF cares?

Investigating Fauci, personally, is also a waste of time and resources. Finding out the origins of COVID isn't a waste of time. Reforms are needed in how the US Government cavalierly hands out money, and also how powerful some bureaucrats become, with very little oversight or recourse.

Yeah, the NIH letter to EcoHealth Alliance chastising them for not reporting properly really does a lot of good months and years later. That genie isn't going back in the bottle, and EcoHealth Alliance is still getting grants.

There has been a commitee trying their ass off for 2 years to try to pin Donald foe something. If they had a decent hand, they would have played the cards.
No....the first hearings were in JanuRy of this year. And relax....,the Repubbers spent 6 years chasing Bill Clinton and never found a damn thing. Dems have a long ways to go...and whiskey, they ARE finding all kinds of illegal behavior.

Another thread where folks try to debate why their party breaking the law is somehow different or more/less harmful than when the other side does the same thing.

I don't know why it's so hard to agree that if you break a law, any law, regardless of who does it, should face the justice system.

Why was Bill disbarred again? Perjury perhaps? Not illegal?
yes it was...contrived as hell but yes. My point being for 6 years the GOP chased Bill over all kinds of stuff they never proved but finally, they were able to contrive a blowjob into "perjury"......something Bill was NEVER accused of....
just never end the chase james.....futility becomes you.

It’s a waste of time because nothing will happen. Nothing will happen to Joe and/or Hunter. Nothing will happen to Fauci. Nothing will happen to Trump. Zilch. Zip. Nothing.

Because Congress does NOT want to "oversee"...they want to politicize every damned thing! Used not to be that sway. Newt Gingerich changed the way Congress functioned and NOT for the better.

Criminal referral to the DOJ on Monday for Trump will include at least three charges: (1) insurrection on the US Capitol and a sitting Congress; (2) obstruction of a governmental procedure and process - an attempt to block the actual certification of the electoral vote; (3) fraud perpetrated against the United States - attempt to replace duly certified Biden electors in numerous battleground states with bogus non-certified pro-Trump electors. Additional referral considerations could be given for dereliction of duty (187 minutes of doing nothing to stop the insurrection on the afternoon of January 6th ) along with his failure to uphold and defend the US Constitution to which he took a solemn oath on the day of his inauguration.
