Trip review.

I recently took a trip to Clinton Iowa for my boyfriend's brothers wedding. I have traveled around the country and this is by far the worst town I have visited. The stench of this town made me gag. We could not travel with the windows open due to the grotesque smell. We stopped at the Phillips 66 gas station in town and encountered a man behind the counter smoking a cigarette with 3 of his friends loitering around the counter, I had to ask them to move so I could pay for my gas. As I was walking to my car, one of the men approached me and asked if he could have a dollar. I then got lost and stopped at another gas station to ask for directions and they wanted money for the directions! I found nothing warm or inviting about the people or the town. A lot of old boarded up buildings with no recent activity. I was never so glad to get home and see the bright lights of Minneapolis!!

Clinton may be ok for some but for myself and many I have spoken with, the rotten, overpowering smells in this city are enough to make even pigs run far away, never to return.

Spot on. The town reeks. Although, I have a buddy from there and he loves his trips back home and his townie buddies in the townie bars. To me it sounds like going to a bar in your hometown and seeing all your HS friends who became alcoholics. Then they ask you for a dollar.

In fairness, I believe the nasty smell in Clinton actually comes from LaGrange.

Mrs. Torbee’s company has a location there. It smells terrible. The shame is the downtown has/had potential. It was one of the wealthiest towns in the country in the late 1800s - nearly all the lumber from Wisconsin and Minnesota was milled and shipped from there. Weyerhaeuser started there. When it and others migrated to Pacific Northwest, it started trending down and never recovered.

Still some amazing mansions from lumber and steamboat barons of the age there.

Clinton Iowa is the shittiest town in Iowa. Small towns that just don't have shit don't make the cut. "Ames"/cr/dm yada yada all suck Iowa style but those are just small dicks who want to waste a vote. Clinton Iowa is a dirthole.

If I had to go with an off the shelf answer I would go with Waterloo.

Yep, but it has such a depressing vibe driving through it. Buildings in disrepair. The whole town needs a coat of paint. The meth heads.
