How the hell can this team be #2 in the country, 192nd in Rushing , 193rd in Passing, 217th in the whole freaking country in total offense ?? OK, this is what i sometimes hear from my B1G buddies who jab ME about it. Despite the fact that i don't actually play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
So i calmly point out that until the rules are changed , outscoring your opponent in any manner is what counts at the end of the game. Currently, 44th in the country in average scoring per game, a far cry from 217th. And only 2 points per game from 26th in the country. Quite honestly, as a fan, i am quite content with that ranking. And then i point out the obvious ( not obvious as they are not Iowa graduates ) to them which is when you get so many turnovers deep in the opponents territory, and especially those that go for touchdowns, your offense does not get as many opportunities to generate offense. They either " get it " or remain befuddled.
