I could understand it last week. First college action, let him go out there and win a tournament, plus what good does it do for him to get pinned by Eierman again? But I agree for this one. Put him out there and let’s see what he’s got. Only thing I can think of is he’s small (wrestled 61kg which is where he beat the AA), maybe they want him to feel the bigger guys without him being shut down by an equal wrestler that is just plain bigger.
They don’t want to break his spirit. So they’re doing like wild cats with their cubs and putting him in front of wounded prey at first. Teaching him how to hunt.
And for the record, Hone began his career at Oklahoma State a year before Kemerer began his career at Iowa. Shout out to the old dudes of college wrestling.
