Expect to see some starters from Illinois, Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and all of the Iowa redshirts. Zane Richards, Zac Brunson, Brooks Black, Alex Marinelli, Matt Reed, Carter Happel, and Kaleb Young will headline the action.

I really doubt they would burn his shirt when Iowa has 4 capable guys in Carton, Turk, Glynn, and Meyer. They probably just want to gauge where he and Young are at. I think Young and Happel have pretty much bonused every match they have had in the last two opens in freshmen division. I doubt Happel is destroying the 4 above to merit pulling his shirt. I do expect Happel to be at Midlands so I guess will find out there.

If he shows that he's our best at the weight and he can score points at nationals, and he wants to wrestle, he needs to be on the mat.

From reading the linked article, it says he prefers to redshirt this year. That's not what frosh who start their first season say, imo. He no chomping at the bit to kick some varsity butt.

LOL Could you please provide an example that has already occurred, preferably between the year 2000 and present? (Not interested here in future predictions on what Lee is going to do.)

Btw, are you guys predicting Lee will start his first year?

Burak. Yes, he had a year in C Springs wrestling freestyle but he came and jumped in at Midlands. Never used his shirt. Ended up a Rd of 12 guy. Was not even close to being as credentialed as some of the guys we have talked about.

I think Lee is committed to redshirting only because I believe the coaching staff and Lee want a year in a college weight room gaining size. If there is a weakness, that is it. That said, if Spencer plows his way through opens and the Midlands, which may be likely because of a weak 125,then they might pull him. 125/133 will end up being some of the toughest in the nation in a two years.

I'm under the impression that Lee's redshirt will not be pulled no matter what. He could go undefeated with every win by bonus and the shirt is going to stay on. Unless KJ becomes the coach, which would result in it being gone within the first weekend when he is told to wrestle up at 165 for the team

Honestly I don't care but I have read countless times over the last 10 years about kids coming in planning on redshirting. I am surprised this is even debated. Maybe my extreme lack of giving a shit about this subject is causing me to miss something. I wouldn't have commented at all if not for sheer boredom.

I live in the Central West End, so Kirkwood is my shopping destination for things the city doesn't have. If anyone wanted to grab a drink after I'd be down. If not, hopefully I get to meet a few of you
