There are 7 Maryland opt outs:

(3) Maryland OL Austin Fontaine, Maryland OL Johnny Jordan, Maryland QB Josh Jackson--were all starters last year and are opting out.

(3) Maryland DL Jalen Alexander, Maryland DB Vincent Flythe and LB TJ Kautai-- have all opted out of the season.

(1) Maryland TE Chig Okonkwo is being held out this season for undisclosed medical reasons.

First of all I am not sure where you found your statistics regarding age groups, but say you are right about older folks just for this conversation. Have you looked at the mortality rate of covid? It has 99.6++ survival rate in US which I believe is a higher mortality rate than the ordinary flu. Not to mention the artificial inflation of the covid numbers in cause of death and having covid.

Just saying if you do get covid the odds are substantially in your favor to survive rather than die, unless you are very old and/or have a compromised immune system. Obviously, those folks need to be very, very careful and take measures to protect themselves.

Where in the world are you seeing this as a higher mortality rate than the flu? Please point me to that resource
