Little Dick Pitino got a 2 year extension for making the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.

But, his buyout is a whopping $500,000 (reported during a local TV newscast; this number ended up being incorrect).

Yes, you read that right. His buyout is $500,000.

Little Dick needs to fire his agent and hire my...I mean, Fran's agent.

After all, $10 million buyouts are the going rate.

Thoughts?

:)

I think you should show the man respect, I would be willing to bet you do not know him well enough to refer to him as Little Dick. Are you as gauche in personal situations as you are when you are behind a keyboard?

His buyout is $2mm until 2020.

The contract averages $2.5mm

The buyout YOU are referring to is if someone else hires him.

I think you got bad data. But carry on.

Pitino......right now the state of Minnesota is LOADED with high level basketball talent....I would think that success and security are needed to help him in those recruiting battles. Just think, the ONLY major university in the state with a good number of top 25 to 50 recruits in the 2019/20 classes.....I wish Iowa were in that same boat.

Pitino had to agree to the buyout, no matter the amount. If it truly is significantly less than other coaches in the conference, it's probably because he wanted it that way...sounds to me like he eventually wants out of Minnesota and doesn't want his contract to be prohibitive.

More, yes. But I wouldn't say a "hell of a lot more". Certainly not enough to justify the ridiculous f****** extension Barta gave him.

Just let it go man...

Fran would still be the coach at Iowa no matter how much his buy out was. There is no way he was getting fired for 1 bad season after how he brought us back to relevance.

You can hate on Barta all you want but it's all for nothing. Fran has done well enough; even though he has not met all our expectations, but he has certainly done enough not to get fired.

Either I need these old eyes checked or I had a "Freudian Slip", because I thought it said two-year suspension.
