Live updates: Graham to introduce resolution condemning House impeachment inquiry

They going all in on "it's the mean democrats trying to get us" defense instead of dealing with the problem and overwhelming need to impeach. These cowards never would have impeached Nixon and Nixon would have served out. They are depending on that 40% base to listen to them and watch their hysterics instead of hearing the true story. Don't blame them either. Until it fails them, lying and false accusations are their new norm. They have a competitive advantage of a having fully baked cult as their followers

Don't know. Why don't you ask him?
I don’t need to ask him because it’s a self-evident answer. In the information gathering stage of an investigation, when witnesses are being deposed, it is standard procedure to do so individually and privately. This has how it’s always been done and indeed, is how the Republican majority led congress handled the Benghazi hearings.

Here is a question for you - why should those rules - rules created and enforced by GOP legislators - NOW not be followed when they were followed four years ago and indeed, as recently as 2018 when Trey Gowdy escorted a dem legislator (who was ALSO a dumb grandstander) out of a closed door investigative hearing?

If you didn't already know that Marco Rubio was a whiny little bitch, it should now be obvious.

Solid tweet there by Little Marco. Bring Jesus into something for cover, then roll over and lifts his hind leg for Trump.

Or they simply disagree with your position,... You understand that disagreement is both possible and allowed, right?
You are entitled to your own opinion . You are not entitled to your own facts.

The fact is, the Democrats AND Republicans conducting this investigation are doing so in a normal and typical way, per the rules of the House of Representatives.

It would be cool if they held a vote and Dems were able to slip in Graham's floor speech during the impeachment of Bill Clinton. You know, the one where he talks about honor and the dignity of the office of the president?

I understand the current rules, but here's another fact for you,.. it's never been done like this before.

Let me channel Finance for you:

This is an impeachment! Nothing more serious other than going to war! I was silent when Starr spent about a decade secretly investigating Bill Clinton and I was unaware that Cox and Jaworski secretly investigated Nixon prior to those impeachments but I'm speaking up NOW in a totally non-partisan way. Check me out...I hate Trump. I swear!

No...you're right. The last two times there was a special prosecutor conducting the behind closed doors investigations. Which produced the facts. Which led to impeachment hearings where the facts were aired openly...just as they will be this time.

So is that what you meant to say?

A shame we didn't have a special prosecutor instead of Mueller.

Think of all the wasted time.

Not saying that the Mueller investigation wasn't a good idea. Not saying it didn't uncover some damning evidence. But it led to nothing. And that's due in large measure to the very narrow focus of the investigation and the limits put on Mueller's authority.

It's not like these meetings are actually "secret", ya know? Witness are scheduled and announced, Republicans are in the room asking questions, the opening statements of the witnesses are given to the press. It's not even close to "not knowing what is going on."

I want to know who leaked the existence of these secret hearings.

Clearly those leakers belong in jail. Should probably be tortured.

Every situation is different. That said, I wouldn't have supported it being done in secret then either. You do understand that a special prosecutor is different than a House Committee, right?

I get so tired of the intellectual weakness and dishonesty. "Someone else did it 25 years ago." Really? Think for yourself.

Oh, and I really don't care about sides on this. I support open government, not secret government. I want to know for myself what Trump did so we can get rid of him as soon as possible.

But it is NOT secret government. It is exactly how the system works. All depositions are done in private. All grand jury testimony is “behind closed doors”. There are members from the relevant committees from both parties working on this inquiry.

The entire notion of this process being somehow “out of bounds” or irregular is simply false.

There's nothing more disgusting than a Trump ass-kisser who claims to be anything but. We already KNOW what he did. We have the Mueller report that details all the elements for four counts of obstruction of justice - at a minimum - and you dismissed it. I suppose because it was conducted "in secret" without all 435 members of Congress - or at least every GOP member - present for every minute.

Now we have this administration openly ADMITTING that they withheld congressionally approved military aid in an effort to force a foreign govt to launch investigations into debunked conspiracies concerning the president's major political rival and to delegitimize the Mueller report and you're still "ho-hum". There's no "secret" here. You are crystal clear. If you want to see "intellectual weakness and dishonesty", take a look in a mirror.
