Who is still out there that you would consider a living legend regardless of music style?

Is there an ultra-premium subset (bolded?)

Paul McCartney
Stevie Wonder
Bob Dylan

Garth Brooks
Placido Domingo
Elton John
Mick Jagger
Neil Young
Sting
Dr Dre
Dave Grohl
Yo-yo Ma
Herbie Hancock
Jimmy Page
Eric Clapton
Ozzy Osbourne

honorary add to the list due to personal bias: Bob Mould

Good additions. I had thought of Madonna and then didn't add her. Also considered Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Michael Stipe.

You can't add Dave without saying Metallica is on the list.
If you are talking bands I agree. But since we're talking individuals (I think), there is no one person in Metallica that would belong over Mustaine. Imo

This man must move to the top of the list (or near it). Van and Stevie Wonder together at the top.

Tony Bennett is still alive - I'd add him.

Also, I don't see Mariah Carey mentioned yet.

I would add Tommy Victor and Paige Hamilton but I'd probably be in a very small minority.

He's more talented singularly than any member of Metallica if that's what you're asking.
But he has zero relevance to 99.99 percent of population. I mean Beck is insanely talented but people don’t view him as music royalty.

I am sure Mustaine has fans but it is not wide reaching where most people know his name. Like whether or not you listen to country, you know Garth or Willie

The others haven't made it yet. What do people think about adding Phil Lesh?

If you want to argue someone else present a case.

Really great list if you are just listing people played on the radio too much. I would list some of my artists but they are a bit too obscure for music normies.
