hopefully you have a general idea about this... Trying to schedule a work event for next fall with an office of Hawkeyes and Cyclones, and wanting to avoid home game weekends if possible. Do you know how soon the B12 will set its football schedule for next year?

Thanks, and beat Okie St. again!

Looks like last year they announced this year's schedule just before thanksgiving

I don't know, but I was told that the current schedule wasn't done until last Spring. That was in connection with a discussion about the way it's back-loaded, with all the top teams playing each other in the final month of the season. If that's true, then the schedule probably won't be set in time to do you much good.

As for Okie State, this would be an uber-classic "trap" game under ordinary circumstances. 'Pokes had a huge win over TCU last week, and play at home against Baylor and Oklahoma the next two weeks; meanwhile, ISU is 3-6 and was drubbed in its last game.

The circumstance which isn't ordinary is recent history. The coaches and probably a couple of players remember coming to Ames with a 10-0 record and national title hopes, leading by 17 in the fourth quarter, and going home with a loss. Makes it less likely OSU will be looking past this game.

You guys got Jeff Woody as honorary captain, I hope? Didn't that 2011 upset occur the same week several of OSU's women's basketball staff were killed in a plane crash?

I don't know about the honorary captain thing.

Yes, the accident occurred the day before. Impossible to know what effect it had. However, the Cowboys had a big lead in the fourth quarter, so it didn't completely mind-**** them.

Strange thing about that crash....single-engine 4-place plane (Piper Cherokee PA-28-180 for those who care about such things). Plot was a state senator and booster, commercial ticket with instrument rating. Had his wife, the head WBB basketball coach and an assistant coach on board, going from Stillwater to Arkansas. Plane was at 7,000 feet, turned right and went down. Weather was good, NTSB couldn't find anything wrong with the airplane, no prior medical condition for the pilot.

OSU has had more than its share of sports-related tragedies. The homecoming parade catastrophe this year was just the latest. In '01 a King Air carrying some of the MBB team and staff crashed after takeoff from Boulder.
