Luka’s defense hampered Iowa all year, and absolutely did again today. Couldn’t have asked for anything more at the other endLuka’s shortcomings? That’s extreme nit picking imo.

The AD ran a giant deficit last year. Idk that love it or leave it leaves them long for the world. The only alternative is to stop supporting the teams unless you have some ability to change/impact what’s happening within the programs that I don’t
If your answer is to support the firing of Barta, I can definitely get behind thatThe AD ran a giant deficit last year. Idk that love it or leave it leaves them long for the world.
I'm just tired of mediocrity and thr response always being how badly we mishandled something 20+ years ago for each sport. If your answer is to support the firing of Barta, I can definitely get behind that
2-22 crappy or like 15-13 crappy? I hope we recruit players like Indiana at guard because they always make the dance......waitCrappy is a better term.
I’ve been an Iowa diehard for 41 years... and I can say... with 100% conviction... I don’t give a f@&k about Fran and what he does from here on out. THIS was his year to show he can coach. THIS was the year with the top college player on your roster ... THIS was the year with several veteran players...G: JT and CJ with Ulis and Perkins. Outside of CJ the other three I think were held back from their abilities. Fran didn’t want them to shoot. I think they can and will!
SF: Connor and Patrick. Please Fran let Patrick get more minutes. I think he is going to be a star!
PF: hoping Weisy returns but future is bright with Keegan and I think Kris will improve too.
c: Nunge recovery will have him back and I hope Ogundele watched and learned.
with the rookie who can shoot, we won’t be bad, but we won’t be as good. A subtraction of JBO(I hate to say it) might be a plus, but man Garza is just going to be hard to say goodbye too!

If the primary options are Garza and Weisy, in limited minutes I don’t think the players are giving a lot of leeway to take shots from them. Perkins and Ulis played for defense and rarely played at that. Take a shot and miss and Fran bench them. So if you are them, would you launch up shots? Why would Fran not want them to shoot?
I’m with you. I think people vastly underestimate the impact a healthy Nunge and CJ had on this team. And Keegan is as good of a freshman as I’ve ever seen at Iowa. I’ve got to believe his brother can’t be THAT far behind. Throw in some good athletes like PMac, Perkins and Toussaint and you have a solid nucleus. Hoping Weezy comes back, but even without him there is talent, if not experience.I think next year's team makes the NCAA tournament with or without Wieskamp. Murray is a legit star in the making, CJ is a great perimeter scorer (needs to be more selfish), and Nunge is a very good player. There's enough talent around those three players to make the NCAA tournament. If Wieskamp comes back, I think they could get as high as a 3-seed, with a 5-6 seed more likely. Without Wieskamp, I'm thinking 8-10 seed.
I disagree with this. I think you give him the pg spot. He is gonna have some head scratching turnovers but with regular minutes and not worrying about coming out of the game he is going to be a solid player for us.I hope Fran has the brutality tough talk with Joe T. The team could be good next year, but we need his scholarship.

You do know we averaged less than ten turnovers a game this year???We need athletes who can shoot and not turn the ball over. Seems like guys with these qualities are tough to land for Iowa/Fran.
I quit coming to this board because of the negativity a few years ago and now checking in and see it is still there. Some of the stuff you guys say about Hawkeyes that have gave there all to this team boggles my mind. It is frustrating we lost and how we lost but there is light at the end of tunnel. My thinking is before you totally go off on an individual player that he should leave the program, step away from your computer and get a new hobby. Some of you are just awful with your words. sickening reading some of this stuff.
Is the feeling that Weezy is for sure gone?
I think he probably is. I’ve heard that he’s ready to move on. But now with his injury that happened today, maybe he’ll stick around.
It’s time to look ahead. It sucks that it all ended today, but there is always next year (Gag)
What I want to see (probably not what will happen)
At the PG, it better be Joe T. No excuse for Fran not to play him, he’s 100% our best athlete and one of the best defenders. He can drive the lane and he can dime up his teammates. I’m excited to see what he can do. Behind him should be Ulis. Ulis showed some flashes, but he has a ton of work to do. Hopefully he develops a better game heading into next season, and he can give us quality minutes next year.
At the 2, it will likely be CJF. Good player, who played well most of this season considering his circumstances. Hopefully he comes back fully healthy next season, because he’s going to be an X-factor. Behind him will likely be Perkins. Man oh man do I love Tony Perkins. He, in my opinion, is our best defender. Some will say Keegan, others Joe T. Neither of those 2 absolutely shut down Ayo like Tony did. Perkins also has a good slashing game on the offensive end. He will need to work on developing a jump shot, along with improving his free throws. I think this kid is going to be a stud when his days in IC are up.
At the 3, I think this will be CMac’s spot again, but I’m going off what I want to see, I think it will be Keegan. For everyone that doubted the Murray twins, eat your crow. Keegan had one of the best Freshman seasons we’ve seen in IC, one that kind of reminded me of Aaron White’s first season. He is probably our most versatile player. He can shoot, rebound, slash, block, steal, shoot FT’s, defend, etc. Can’t wait to watch him develop this off-season. Behind him, I’d like to see Kris Murray. Sounds like a Keegan clone, but a better defender and slasher. And then CMac can come off the bench behind them.
At the 4, I would like to see PMac. This kid can ball. Lots of people don’t like his game, but he can defend and he has a good inside game. I hope he adds around 15 lbs of muscle this off-season. He reminds me a lot of Aaron White, someone that will likely have his number hanging up in the rafters at Carver one day. Behind PMac, can be one of either Kris or Sandfort. Kris can probably play both the 2, 3, and 4, so I’d be comfortable with him behind Pat. Sandfort is the incoming Freshman of the 2021 class, and tall, lanky sharpshooter from Waukee. Sandfort reminds me a lot of Miller Kopp of NU, and he is a solid player. I like Sandfort, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get minutes next year.
At the 5, is where Nunge will be. I like Nunge’s game, he’s a good rebounder and shot blocker, but I think he fits better as a stretch 4. Hopefully he puts on some more muscle, because he needs to be bigger to be a truly effective 5 next year. Behind him I hope to see either a transfer or Josh O. Ogundele looks like he can be a good player, but there is a ton of work to be done with him. He needs to cut a ton of fat and add a ton of muscle. Will he be able to that before next season? We’ll see. Josh is also a way different player than Luka and Nunge. Both Luka and Jack can stretch the floor and play inside. Josh is in the mold of a paint beast. Something I really hope he does in the off-season is study the game of Kofi at Illinois. If there is someone for him to model his game after, it’s Kofi. If Josh can’t get completely ready for next year, go take a look in the portal. If a guy like Liam Robbins or Xavier Foster enters the portal, I’d hope Fran would pursue.
All in all, this team next year will be very young. I think they will battle night in and night out, and I could see them getting a spot in the dance. I hope this loss today festers in their minds, and they put in double the effort to improve this off-season.
This is good discussion and a good thread.....A couple items from posters here that I think are the key needs for next year.
1) Depth in the post.
2) Outside shooting.
3) Defensive improvement at a high level.
So, in reverse order I think the current roster has a pretty good group to step up the defense significantly. They will be athletic and long...quicker at pretty much every spot. I think and hope that Fran feels that way...he adapts to the personnel that he has and next years team can obviously press, run, play good half court defense and that HAS TO BE a cornerstone for next years team to have some success. With quickness and athleticism we need to be a good rebounding team as well.
Outside shooting: The first step is for the current roster to develop their offensive skills and take a significant step in the offseason. I feel pretty confident that Keegan Murray can do that. Next in terms of level of confidence is Nunge and Patrick. The rest of the gang doesn't have to be great but they should all be competent....SO this might be where we need to bring in a transfer?..I think that is important.
Depth in the Post: I think Josh O has a lot of potential.....but he has a LONG way to go for next year. I hope that he is 100% dedicated to doing what needs to be done. I think that Jack is better than many give him credit for and if he starts and plays regular minutes he will develop consistency....BUT you have to worry about his health..SO a transfer would be great. Does a transfer make Josh O say adios?
So, assuming Joe W is gone.....and Connor takes a while to heel up and get back in the groove, here is what I see:
PG: Joe T/Ulis
2G: CJ/Tony
Wing: Patrick/Kris/ P S
PF: Keegan, Kris/PS
C: Nunge/JO
(Connor in there somewhere when healthy)
That leaves 1 scholarship for a shooter and one for a post player.......
I think that IF the defense does what we hope, we get competent post depth, and the outside shooting that we need.....this will be a tournament team...
I think those recruiting needs will start to unfold pretty quickly and we will see some action in the next few weeks?
You think I’m @Hawkeyeinsoutherncalifornia? Lol!You have heard? Who spoke this information to you?? Or, are you just making shit up?
Come on, man.
Yesterday, Weezy was asked postgame about his future and he declined to comment.
But you have heard he's ready to move on. Incredible.
And if people are paying attention, you have made similar comments on the football forum where you claim to have insider information or you claim to have HEARD something. LOUNGE members, who actually pay for insider info & who had not heard about YOUR supposed insider info, have called you out on this & have asked for your sources. I am no fan of @Legend12 but he once called out a poster named HawkeyeinCentralCalifornia for similar types of BS. And your handle ironically is HawkeyeInCentralIowa That poster either got banned or left in embarrassment. Are you one in the same?

You might want to explain how you suddenly know that I’m said poster. I live here in Central Iowa. That poster you’re referring to is from Southern California. Fran, you are trying to stir up drama. I have respect for you as a poster, but you obviously are trying to lose it.And based on your lies and nonsense, I am convinced you used to post under
Hawkeyeinsoutherncalifornia, left disgraced on Aug 12, 2019 (after @Legend12 outed you) and returned as HawkeyeInCentralIowa on Sep 14, 2019 .
You aren't fooling anyone.
Fran, you are trying to stir up drama. I have respect for you as a poster, but you obviously are trying to lose it.
I’m not going to stir up drama like you and Harb did/do. I’m putting you on ignore for a while.Again, you kept saying that you heard this and heard that about 2022 and 2023 prospects on the football forum. Lounge members (who pay for this type of insider info) called you out on it and basically called you a liar, and rightfully so.
And now you are saying you heard that Wiesy is not returning, which is obviously not true. You didn't hear that from anyone!
So, just like the Lounge members calling you out on your lies, I am calling you out on your Wiesy lie, because Wiesy has not made public his intentions.
So quit acting like you have all of this football and basketball insider info when you clearly do not.
I’m not going to stir up drama like you and Harb did/do. I’m putting you on ignore for a while.
Joe & Ahron will battle for the starting position; they will be better defensively but won't have much of a scoring punchThis team literally has not a single legit B10 PG on the team. CJ is definitely more of a 2. Others should be playing at a directional school.
I'm just tired of mediocrity and thr response always being how badly we mishandled something 20+ years ago for each sport.
Any chance you could be wrong with that prediction? You're not painting a very rosy picture for next year. Need more then a whirling dervish and a smooth operator that can't shoot. Please tell me there's hope 1 or both can be have some consistent offensive to go along with what we have coming back.Joe & Ahron will battle for the starting position; they will be better defensively but won't have much of a scoring punch
They did shoot. JT shot whenever he wanted to, the 2 freshmen were timid much like many freshmen are but especially Perkins put up several shots. Ulis was very shy, he needs to be more aggressive as he was a scorer in HS. But McC NEVER holds back his players from shooting if they have good shots. That's the norm.G: JT and CJ with Ulis and Perkins. Outside of CJ the other three I think were held back from their abilities. Fran didn’t want them to shoot. I think they can and will!
