I am waiting on the ticket office to get something out. A buddy of mine sent in a request for me (he can't go) and they have had tickets for 20+ years and his parents donate a bunch to the university. I keep texting him asking if his parents have heard anything and they said no.
His dad is a little upset by this (he can't go either) but he wants me to get tickets to the game. Said that most ticket offices would have something out late last night or today to fans. So they could start making plans to attend the game.
Again, cause people don't like to listen to me on this, the university is gonna take a huge chunk for itself. Think of it tickets for all players family and friends, all other athletic people, all university administrators. All big time donors then are gonna get free tickets for them and their families. Then they are gonna have to hold a block for just students.
It wouldn't shock me if the university uses up 5K+ for internal use. Now schools get 15K for the BIG title game, which sounds like a lot, but then realize that Kinnick seats 70K.
So there will be few from the university, and they have no reason to rush. They can take a day or two to make sure all its people are taken care off. Then they can announce on Tuesday the policy for what's ever left and start selling them Wednesday. That still gives Hawk fans more days to buy tickets than the East Champions through the school and plan to attend the game.
The email my buddies dad got stated they only get 10,000 for fans and they were using the point system. His dad seems to think that since they donate and have been ticket holders for so long they should get them. He's just upset that they haven' heard anything.
Again they haven't heard anything because there is no rush for the university. They can make sure to take care of the right people first. Then put them out on Wednesday or so. That still give Iowa fans 10 days compared to 5 for MSU/OSU/Michigan.
Whole stadium will be the Iowa section. Got 3 in 320.IOWA SECTIONS ARE
125-139, 227-240, 326-337, 427-437
Well if that's the case I will buy my tickets through stub hub and say screw the ticket office. I don't want to wait and find out that they didn't get them because some water boy's dad got their tickets on Wednesday when there are tons of tickets on stub hub.
Keep an eye on stub hub. Prices are starting to come down.
I'm curious as to why prices would be coming down at this stage. Demand, at least from Iowa fans, just went through the roof. Whoever else makes it to the game will be scrambling for tickets, too. If anything, I'd imagine prices would be going up from this point onward, at least until maybe very shortly before the game, but by then tickets will be very picked over.
Were you thinking demand might go down due to tOSU fans dumping their tickets? I suppose that could be, but there will be plenty of Iowa and other fans ready to snatch them up. I'd like to see prices coming down (well, at least for other fans, as we've already bough ours) but am struggling to find an economic reason why they would.
Because a big chunk of tickets has been put on the secondary market yet. When markets get flooded with a product price comes down, even with demand. (i mean just look at the secondary sites there is nothing below 300 sections and that is not cause Iowa fans snapped them up).
I've bought tickets to the World series, all star games, bowls, final fours etc. Never seen a secondary market with that big of open swatches in a stadium, which leads me to believe those tickets haven't hit the market yet.

You literally have no idea WTF you are talking about. No I mean they will go to the public wednesday. You'll know that day whether you got them through the university as I imagine its allotment will go quickly.

How in the world is Iowa demand going to increase? We've known we were in the West driver's seat since October 3rd. It's not like this is some kind of new development. People have been looking for tickets and planning trips since the Northwestern game.
OSU fans I'm sure bought a ton of these things as it's a very easy drive for them and I'm sure they thought it was a foregone conclusion that they would be there. You also had some Michigan fans that I'm sure were holding out hope.
Demand can only go down from here, not increase. You will not have 2 undefeated teams, guaranteed, and this game has never sold out before, not even once.
The ticket office took reservations from season ticket holders and had 10k allotment. I would be VERY surprised if they sold any to the general public. Season ticket holders will buy up the entire allotment.
Meh, the tickets you always get through the university are crap anyway.Buddy just called. They didn't get tickets! Said they had 16,000 requests and only 10,000 allotted.
His dad was upset, but nothing they could do.
Looks like were scalping tickets in Indy
Seriously? Iowa clinched a berth in the championship game yesterday. I'd say that's a pretty new development. Sure, they were favored to beat Purdue, but it wasn't a lock until literally hours ago. I'm sure lots of Iowa fans waited to buy tickets until it was a sure thing.
Demand for Iowa fans is huge, and I don't expect that to change any time soon. Of course, it will decline as the game approaches to some degree, but tickets will also obviously be getting bought up, as well.
As for the opponent, demand will certainly skyrocket among their fans once the opponent is decided. That's a pretty good reason for demand to be increasing soon.
What gave that last part away? The fact that they had 16K requests for 10K tickets?A friend of mine just went online tonight and got tickets right behind the "Iowa Sections" for 150 a ticket. I think he said section 533 or something like that. Sucks to pay that much, but oh well. I am sure demand will go up if MSU clinches this weekend.
Plus rumor is there are going to be tons of Iowa fans in Indy.

It was a joke. there's no rumor here. It's a known fact that Iowa fans are flocking to this game. I live a long way from the majority of the fan base and even I knew this. That and apparently a friend of mine in Chicago said that basically every Iowa fan in Chicago is wanting to go to Indianapolis. Said he was watching the Purdue game at an Iowa bar in Chicago and everyone was trying to get tickets after Saturdays game.
