But none about why refugees need to come half way around the world. What's wrong with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, or Turkey-- you know, their neighbors? Seems far more efficient.

They CHOOSE not to have the capabilities to take them in.
Saudi Arabia has the cash to take each and every Syrian that wants to come there in. They could build an entire city to house them all lavishly, and feed/cloth/protect them for the rest of their entire lives.
I suspect it's a Muslim sect issue at play with all this. If all ME Muslims were one big happy family, there'd be no borders anywhere and it'd be one big new super power. There'd be no ISIS, no al Queda, no Taliban.
Let's be honest about Saudi Arabia. They're probably bankrolling ISIS. So the idea that they would help out the people their cronies are killing probably doesn't make too much sense.

My point is...looking for the Muslim world to "take care of their own" doesn't fly because the Muslim world doesn't take care of their own. Period. Sunni, Shia...them's fightin' clans.
There's a reason why those borders are there, outside the Sykes/Piquot Treaty mapmaking adventure a hundy ago. A lot of those countries hate the people that inhabit their neighbors' land. Hate that is 10 centuries old. SAME religion.
We like to criticize how our country doesn't get along. We're downright neighborly by comparison.
Could you folks maybe do like 2 minutes of search before claiming these countries do not take Syrian refugees? Jordan has taken in over 100,000.

Turkey is taking about 2 million, Lebanon over a million and Jordan around 600,000.
