The big debate in Milwaukee is getting a lot of press, but, tonight's debate between John Bel Edwards and David Vitter's was bare knuckled. Edwards has been hammering Vitter's for his frequent use of prostitutes. Edwards new ad features a trench coat wearing Vitter's trudging along while talking on a cell phone. Presumably he's calling one of his lady friends up. The ad asserts that Vitter's skipped a vote in the Senate to honor US war dead to take a call from a prostitute.
During the debate Vitter's tried to play the victim card, and said Edwards was in the gutter with his attacks. Edwards responded because that's where Vitter's lived. He also slammed Vitter's for bringing his family into ads, which personally I abhor. If you get caught banging someone other than your wife, don't dishonor her even more by putting her in an ad. Edward's has promised to keep up the attacks.
Another notable event in this race is that Vitter's has been slamming the performance of Bobby Jindal, and the sitting Lt. Governor of Louisiana, a Republican, has endorsed Edwards. I love it.
