Luc Laketa commits to hawks

If there was clarification that he was a pwo from the get go, there wouldn’t have been any shatting
What a moronic comment. So if he's a walk-on, he shouldn't be criticized. But if he's on scholarship, it's ok to trash the kid.

How about this...just don't be an asshole in the first place. Get a life. It astounds me that someone would be such a loser that they would post negatively about 20 year old kids online.

Not sure about his height - I saw 6'3" (2020) & 6'6"(2021, reclassified). I thought I read that his 3pt % was ~45%. Is there a recent complete profile for him?

Watching his highlight video, and yes I know it's only a highlight video, and yes I know that walk-ons get very little playing time, but damn he looks 100% better then the senior McCaffery son in everything but feeding the post. Not enough video to add that to his resume.
Nice shooting form, seems athletic enough, sure can't hurt having him on the roster. They're sure is a lot of AH on this board. Kid looks like a player to me, and not worthy of all the snarky downright mean comments made about him.
Welcome to Iowa son....

Another white dude. 🙄

@Roy L Fuchs, WTF is this?
Tell that to all those black dudes he was whuppin' up on in his highlight video. My Gawd, Iowa fans are turning into dicks. All you "experts"," with your astonishing coaching credits, just dismiss the kid before he even gets to IC. Nice way to greet the young man who wants to play for Iowa.

He's a Walk On! Don't worry he won't be taking time from JT or Ulis anytime soon. Also nice to have quality practice players who won't whine about playing time. But I can promise you this - he would bitch slap 95% of the people on this Board in a game to 10.

According to the Detroit Free Press newspaper, Luc Laketa
was named First Team All State in his Senior Year of HS.

His bio says he averaged 15.3 points and was supposedly first team all state in Michigan......

Link? This is what I found:

"The Hanover-Horton boys basketball program was well presented on the list with senior standouts Luc Laketa, Mitch Sauber and Jack Brockie all making the honorable mention list, as well as head coach Chad Mortimer.

Laketa was the leading scorer for the Comets this season from his forward position, averaging 15 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. The senior shot 60 percent from the field, 45 percent on 3-pointers and 71 percent from the free-throw line, making him a difficult defensive assignment night in and night out due to his versatile skill set as an outside shooter and low-post scoring threat."

Agree! But I'd bet on 99.9%...maybe 100%.

This is a non-issue to me. He's not on scholarship so 0 risk. Odds are he sticks around for a season or two as a practice player then decides to transfer somewhere to play like Baer Jr. did. There are always a few of these kids that rise from obscurity to be contributors, so who knows? Nick Baer certainly didn't strike me as being capable of accomplishing what he did when I saw him for the first time in the PTL.

You are probably overestimating saying he would not whip 5%. He was all-state in Michigan. Some maybe would have competed in their prime, but how many can still play, maybe 0.5%.

Yep, nothing but upside. Looks like he has a good shot and decent athleticism. Could potentially be a contributor in a few years

Good pick-up. Gotta have someone to push Ash.

Just joking. In all seriousness, congrats to the kid and welcome aboard.

But, wow, some of you people are confused. "CJF comp"? You realize CJ will be playing for Kentucky, right? "100% better than Connor at everything but post-feeding"? You realize Connor had a highschool highlight reel too, right? Do you people have eyes? This kid will not play real minutes

Smart high character kid who wants to be a Hawkeye and is paying his own way. I don’t see a single negative thing about this.

It also says good things about Fran and what he’s built here that people who really know college basketball by coaching it at the highest level, want to send their kids to his program.
